When the author was writing the book that the movie was based on, he said that he was about 2/3 of the way in writing the book till he realized that the narrator and Tyler were the same person. So the surprise was hidden even from the author for a long time during its creation.

When Marla leaves the kitchen singing her song (gotta get off) this is actually from the theme of Valley of the dolls. It goes... Gotta get off...gonna get..have to get off from this ride!! (wise to a merry-go-round). e.g, this revolving door/ this repetitive toxic b.s

All pay phones back in the day had their own number listed in the phone booth. So yes, you can call a pay phone if the caller knows the number.

Years ago while living on my own and socially isolated for weeks, I started to hallucinate full on conversations with people and catch myself talking to nobody at all.

I thought I was gonna die one. When I didn't, I have never felt more alive and happy. It was a revelation to me.

2:49 It's true that can't die from insomnia, but you could doze off while driving and die in an auto wreck. I suffered insomnia for about a year. It was not pleasant. I got over it by treating sleep like a nap. Just tell yourself you are taking a nap. I sleep on top of my bed not between the sheets. On top of the bedspread. It might be something from my time in Iraq. Always having to be ready to roll out.
