Great video. The Mission 1 Pro has great features. The start up and quick capture are finally quick. The charging is quick and has good battery life. The Enduro 2 battery is compatible with the Hero 13 . The focusing range is a real problem, and it seems softer over all. I still wish they would add the quicker start up,  faster quick capture, and improved battery performance to the Hero 13.

Love the underwater footage 11:47.  Felt exactly how it is when I was in the ocean ❤❤❤❤❤❤

When I actually compared it to my own diving experiences, the answer was simple.
I had been swayed by the downsides of GoPro, and after the Ace Pro was released, I found its artificially vivid imagery fresh and beautiful. However, the footage from the GoPro Mission 1 reveals the true colors of the ocean as I actually see them. It is the GoPro Mission 1 that will allow me to recall the authentic colors of the sea when I look back on it years from now.

Working on my 8k edit in Hawaii it looks amazing off da mission 1 pro

Thank you for this, such a useful video for people interested in underwater.

Great video, Scott! Thank you!  Will you be creating a "Best Settings Underwater" follow-up video for the GoPro Mission 1 Pro?

I keep going back and forth with buying this…. Im going snorkelling in Fiji in October and currently have the GoPro hero 11….

thanks for pointing out the low-light and battery flaws. definitely makes me think the Action 6 might be a bit more reliable for long diving sessions

Currently using an INON ZD Pro lens with a third party ('Howshot') adaptor on the M1P, and yes, focus distance works to crazy close levels. Recommended.

Gratuliere! Sehr aussagekräftiger Vergleich der Kameras und nicht ständig diese "Talking Heads"!

The king is back! Viva GoPro!

Which action cam do you prefer for diving?

@scottbauerbelow - do you know what the minimum focusing distance becomes underwater without any accessory lenses?  I'm looking at the Mission 1 Pro as a possible photogrammetry camera due to the overheating problems seemingly now being resolved.

So glad to find someone testing these cameras in FL, especially the springs! So sad to see the amount of algae :/

It seems like the mission 1 pro has some limits, but overall gives you more flexibility in post. The focusing distance seems a drawback. However, do you think GoPro will release additional lenses (like Macro) to counteract that?

60cm minimum focus underwater is rough, the Action 6 handles close ups way better

I have a Gopro Black 13, for diving video, no need to upgrate to Mission 1 Pro. No?

Great review,  M1 has ~~70 cm minimal focus range with no infinity focus, make this hard to use underwater, specially with wet lens due to fact as the maximum range of focus will be reduced  too from 7 m to 1.5 m. So sharp "area" 70 cm to 7m and 13cm to 1,5 m with UWL-03

I use the AOI UWL 03 with my Hero12 Scott, but I suspect it will vignette on the mission 1, given the larger sensor area. Would love to be wrong about this though... please update us if you hear different.

Should have waited for this review before buying the HERO 13 based on Sean Eliott's 😢
