I dont care what anyone else says
this was Mega Bloks at their peak
the best dragon toys I had as a kid, so detailed and fun
I really wish they stuck with this...

They weren't stingy with the number of dudes you got, you could have full on wars.

Dragons was for Mega what Bionicle was for Lego, and both end the same 🕊️

its so weird to see my old forgotten toys in thumbnails

There was a time when I could get Dragons and Bionicle in the same store. I miss those days.

I don’t care what anyone says, this theme was pure peak

“A cheaper alternative to Lego” is an absolutely valid niche lmao

Dragons was the best thing Mega Bloks did. I just remember rocking up to my friends house with like 5 kids meeting up to play pretend and I had my Warfang army, Dragon, Castle, and boat. No one was prepared with just their Lego Star Wars figures.

Man, I remember I had that weird Wizard Stone that needed the runes to be pressed in order to open the secret compartment. Really liked that the knights had a more grim and gritty look to them. Probably a sign that I would eventually fall prey to Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k.

I am 32 now and this video unlocked that I had most of the first few releases of this as a kid

Dragons has always stuck with me. I even named one of my D&D characters, a black Dragonborn barbarian, "Thoron".

Inject that nostalgia right into my veins

Loved these fantasy sets, did stuff lego didnt

I loved megabloks dragons as a kid.
Stendhal and thorn still towering on my shelf to this day.

As someone with sever Mega Bloks Dragons (and plasmaverse) autism- i got a wall of text for this
1. The Fire and Ice movie is kind of the prequel to the toy line, xenos was supposed to survive the movie, the site had a point and click game depicting his REAL demise at the hands of Dev and Kyra, oh yeah, they had more than the isometric flash game, there was about 4 stop motion point and clicks throughout the ages.
2.Xenos Clerics are a fun part of the lore because that pack does not contain Xenos but an impostor that took his place
3.Plasmaverse started off as plasma dragons, only changing the name to plasmaverse two years later
4.The "soft reboot" is kind of right, but also all the members of the two factions come from the old ones, as the Silver and Gold alliances are just that- alliances of people and dragons coming together to conquer the mcguffin keep
5.The reason new dragons minifigures were maligned was the price and presentation. As a kid i legitimately thought the  boosters only had 1 figurine sprue and nothing else, so i never bought one and i was not the only one like that.
6.There was an attempt on rebooting Dragons with Dragons Universe a few years later, and it was an allright theme (though the vehicles were ass)
7.Funny thing about Legends of King Arthur isn't the first time Mega Bloks made Arthurian myth toys, their first take was a duplo like line about knights of the round table that had a very short lived animation they cut up for commercials. I have no clue why they tried to get it burried so much but i legitimately only knew of it becuase it was on the promotional Pyrates CD
8.They also re-wrote the lore twice, once for the movie to give more attention to the dragon king and his queen, and then again for the metal ages because they realized they retconned a lot of things and fans were not happy.

What a memory blast, haven’t thought about these in like 25 years. Such a good line. Modular lego castle building + great looking dragons with accessories was a huge win.

And I had no idea at the time, but now that I see the prices they really were cheap compared to lego.

Thank you so much for making this. The MEGA BLOKS Dragons line was one of the most defining parts of my childhood. For such an obscure subject, you did it justice. Watching this video was like taking a trip down memory lane, but I also learned a lot.

For starters, my earliest memories of the MEGA BLOKS Dragons line begin with the Fire & Ice, and Metal Ages series. So it was really cool getting to learn about the earlier series, and everything that lead up to Fire & Ice. I also learned a lot about the order in which the sets were released, which helps put things into perspective. I still vividly remember looking for the latest Dragons set every time I went to any toy store, those were such good days. You also did a great job covering the other touch-points for the Dragons line, such as the movies, flash games, and interactive CD roms (which me and my friends played all of the time too.)

Overall, such a great video. Last year I dug up my remaining MEGA BLOKS Dragons figures, and replaced all of the figures that were missing (thanks eBay). I’m hoping to do my own love-letter to this legendary toy line soon too!
