Nice. Good to see someone with the basic beige version or the C64U. I also went with that one, and I'm gonna type in your explosion basic program now 😊

Hey, from the video did learn by seeing the layout , I did not have to unplug the 2 cables to get to the SD card slot. < But I would not have known this w/o watching. So thanks!!!!!!!!
On some forum, a person did talk about stripping one or more of the three screws. So I used the right screwdriver, and twisted slowly. I was no where near brave enough to use electric.

Between, work, holiday, family, kids, grandkids and greats... I am now finally having time to use my C64U. These videos are helpful.

Great video , thank you.

Wow, that printer still works great, and the print is a lot better than the crappy Comrex CR220 I had, back in the day. Good video. My C64U sat in Sarnia Ontario for a month but is due in 2 days. 😄

I learned on a different platform. In High School on a IBM 5150 basic then dos 1.0 I think it was. What makes these special is the book that a user then especially then and maybe now would need.

The Okimate 10 or 20 (the Beige version) are great printers to have if you have a working unit. They work with oldschool 8.5 inch wide THERMAL paper rolls which can still be sourced today (the same types used in old fax machines). I love not having to worry about being to locate any old wax transfer ribbons. The thermal paper is great… You only have to manually cut the printed sheet into pages as the output will be on a continuous roll.

I have the Okimate 10 which is great for use with GEOS as the Thermal printing does a good job of duplicating exactly what you see on screen.

Have you tried the streaming option? You can capture the output perfectly in OBS using the small plug-in.

I've considered buying one although I don't need one currently making floppy images to store on a SD or CF card.

10:32 two USB Connections, but take cautions, it says TOP on the board because only top connector is functioning.
i think mainly because the onboard usb handling chip reached all it's available com port adresses it can handle, and design-wise it's the cheapest way to rise a usb connector instead of designing strange more costly riser do-hickies just to connerct peoples random collection of thicker sometimes oddly designed usb thumbsticks. and just fit a double decker port and exclude the bottom one from working.
extra usb-hubs should work though.

Get a slightly longer usb c cable. The next time you go in you can just lay the top cover back and not have to disconnect anything. You know you'll be back inside before long!

It's a very nice system I'm sure a 3.5 USB drive would work faster. Although I understand, Today's modern adaptation is amazing, I like the ZIF sockets for the sid.

Where did you get your Thermal Transfer paper 📃 for the oki10? Brand etc ?

@StevesRealWorld 8 months ago

Your capture device is pretty cool, do you have a link to it, I might need one. Thanks

@newgoat3013 7 months ago

Where you still getting ribbons for that okimate 10?

@zidanerick5851 9 months ago

With your drill if you put it down to 1 it will stop spinning once it reaches any resistance. I thought I saw your's on 6, apologies if I didn't see correctly. The last thing you probably want is a crack in the plastic :(

@josephkarl2061 9 months ago

Just like there’s virtual disks, there’s a virtual cartridge slot so you can load a virtual FastLoad cartridge and get the same thing happening 😎

Can we move GEOS and c64g gui onto the SD card so that they are always on the commodore? I don't always want to leave the USB stick in the back if I don't have to.
