Thanks to you, my affection for Leica has grown even more, and I'm learning so much. You explain things so calmly and well.

I have the Mark 2 version and love it. Great overview.

Nice review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the lenses Jimmy!

Thanks Jimmy, love the insight

Thanks for share, I've been using the 11882 lens for years.

Great review, Jimmy! Really nice shots too. 👏

haha, glad you shared that you have 3 of every lens. makes me feel better about my excessive compulsive disorder.

Nice job Jimmy! I have the version 1 and love it. 😁👍

Hi Jimmy,

First of all, let me thank you for the videos you’ve been creating. I’ve known about the Leica brand since I was a student studying photography, but I never dreamed of owning one because of how ridiculously expensive the cameras and, especially, the lenses can be.

Your videos have been incredibly helpful, particularly in showing the different looks and images produced by each lens. They’ve really shortened the learning curve for me when it comes to understanding the Leica lens lineup.

I recently got my first Leica, an M11, and I was wondering what you would recommend as a first lens. I’m the kind of photographer who enjoys shooting at all focal lengths, so eventually I’ll probably end up adding several lenses to my collection. But for now, if you had to choose between a 35mm and a 50mm as a first lens, which one would you recommend, and which specific lens would you choose?

By the way, I was offered a 35mm Summilux ASPH. by a reseller. It has a small dent on the front of the lens, and they’re offering it to me for $2,339 USD. Do you think that’s a good deal, considering the condition?

Thanks again for all the work you put into your videos. They’ve been a huge help as I begin my Leica journey!

seeing how cheaper a second-hand asph v2 is compared to a KoB, you get a banger value of a lens

amazing so far on my m4, and could pair great with digital M if i get one later down the road

Another great review as usual

Thanks for showing this lens some love, Jimmy. I bought the ASPH V1 over a decade ago with the M8 and have continued to use it with each new digital M. It might be relatively ‘bland’ in a world of Summiluxes, APOs and vintage and reissue lenses, but I think it’s the best all-rounder in terms of size, speed and performance for a travel lens. When I go hiking with a 15kg backpack, this or the V5 50mm Summicron is the only lens I want to take because of the size and weight. The only really bad thing about that lens is its lack of flare control. Thanks for continuing to upload your videos!

Thanks for another great review. 👍
I just purchased a silver Summicron 35mm f2 asph v2 and will unfortunately return it as I find it lacks sharpness even at f5.6. Made a head to head comparison at f2.8, 5,6 and 11 to my 28mm Elmarit and 50mm Summilux (both lenses the most recent ie current versions), and was quite disappointed with the 35mm Summicron. I admit to being somewhat of a pixel peeper at times, but have been happy with both the Elmarit and the Summilux. Suspect I’ll have to buy the 35mm APO Summicron.

I am confused which version to buy for my M10-R regarding the focus shift.😮

Nice work! I traded my v1 summicron in brass for the macro Elmar 90mm f4 set. Wanted a longer reach lens on the m10m. I actually prefer the v3 summicron Canada which is my favourite 35mm

I really enjoy this lens (V1 asph). It was my first Leica lens and I used it for over 10 years on my M6. When I switched to the M10R I noticed a slight Italian flag effect on my digital images. I can fix it with corner fix but I wonder if the updated version was made to address this issue. It might be the micro lens layout on the 40MP sensor. Not sure. Have you had that issue as well. Is it just the M10R. Nobody talks about it but for me it’s a small disappointment that you have to fix color shifts on a 2500 EUR lens. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, Jimmy! This is a great video. How much of a difference do you see between pictures made with the Summicron ASPH and those made with the Summarit?

I have the voigtlander ultron 35 f2 v2 and thinking if i should get a leica summicron 35 f2 asph v2, do you have any recommandations?

Hi Jimmy , thank you for this new video 🙂 how would you compare it with the Voigtlander 35mm Nokton f1.5 ? I remember that you quite enjoyed this lens I believe. Same size, cheaper, faster, and a "special" rendering as well. What do you think about it for choosing just one 35mm , against the summicron ? Many thanks 🙏
