Impedance Matching 101 presentation by Ward Silver, N0AX at Pacificon 2012. A great introduction on methodology and techniques to achieve optimum energy transfer between a electronic circuit source and load. Knowing these fundamentals allows for best system performance. More of Mr. Silver's work is found monthly in the ARRL QST publication, "Hands-On Radio" column.

Years ago, after he retired, I spent a day visiting with and discussing with Doug DeMaw physically short longwave transmitting antennas. I remember far more than I would normally remember, because we lived over 150 miles apart, (so there would be little chance to spend more time talking together,) but unfortunately some of what we discussed has faded in my memory, and his books simply don't target the subject, as there was no ham longwave band at the time, (though that didn't stop me since there was a license-free band on 1750 meters,) and I regret the loss of both him and all of the knowledge he possessed and provided.
But through the magic of videos like this I can continue to be mentored by the very best without being a bother to them and without misunderstanding or forgetting a thing. Their combined knowledge at the tip of my finger at any time in my own home is the best possible resource for gaining knowledge of my own. I very much appreciate Ward Silver doing this presentation and allowing it to be put up on YouTube. The fact that in the last 10 years it has had nearly a quarter million views says it all.
