Great video. Cool pictures too!
Your video describes exactly how I feel about the D700. I bought mine three months ago, and I'm thrilled with it.
What an amazing camera it is. I'm actually considering buying another one in mint condition. It's just that good.

Great news that you found what you were seeking, I wish you the good health  (and weather) to enjoy! The photos are magical!

👍 and yes you can see it in the photos, very memory like.

Enjoyed the "wobble" and the perspective on the D700. I like your style. New subscriber.

I absolutely ADORE my Nikon D700. I couldn’t afford it when it came out when I was in high school but as soon as I had some big boy money it was mine lmao. I only have a 50mm 1.8 AF S. and a lovely 85mm 1.4 AF D. I’m getting a 35mm lens for it pretty soon too. And it IS incredibly good at nighttime photography, I think mine can see in the dark honestly. I use an Olympus E-M1 MkII for my mirrorless set up these two older camera kits are almost perfect for me.

D700 is superb, my forever camera.
Works amazingly well for all sorts, I've even used it for small birds with a 500PF and TC1.4E iii

Despite all the praise bestowed on it since day one, I put off buying a D700 - for way too long. Thinking that more megapixels was the answer to all the world's problems, I began shooting with a D800, then a D810. I had no idea how much I really needed a D700 to give me what I really wanted in my photos. I finally took the plunge in January '25, and became so enamored, I bought a second one a few months later. The honeymoon continues... 😊

Great camera indeed, had mine since new 2010 (did weddings with 2 of them). Colours remind me of the  kodak Portra 160 Pro i was using in my film days weddings. Still shooting with it and now the D780 is part of the family.

Congratulations on discovering your dream constellation for certain kinds of photographs. I don’t think it matters whether it’s a camera kit, the perfect retreat, the ideal car or anything else of that sort: finding the ideal is magical and a reason to celebrate. I hope you’ve done just that🍻

Saw D700 shooter video. Like Subscribed. I got me two of em. One I managed to revived has 146K+ clicks and my baby 18k+ clicks. Also the rival 5dmk2. Love the three of em. I just love how forgiving this sensor is.

Hi Phil, I could not agree more! That D200 has something special too (CCD sensor- watch this space for upcoming video!) but that noise in black and white? I feel it adds something to the picture! I’m really loving shooting the old delta again, the whole experience is reinvigorating my live of photography! 👍
Thank you for taking the time to drop me a message Phil, I appreciate it mate! 👍👍

My perfect camera is the Nikon D700 with a Nikkor 24mm f2.8 AIS manual focus lens. I shoot Jpgs only and find that I have found myself a digital equivalent of shooting Fuji Chrome 50 with my old Nikon F or FM2. I shoot color with my Nikon D700. I shoot black and white with my Nikon F loaded with Tri X. Life is even better. "See the Good."

Well said! I know the D700 has a legion of followers. I use a D200/D300 as a EDC (light dictate which one). For all the reason you said. My one add is grain. From your last video getting printing is my next priority.
I was re visiting old photos and found D200 night shots at 3200asa lol. Yes noise! But I turn them to BW and I got grain of a sort (get it) another avenue to get lost in. Phil

Nikon D700 was a Nikon anomaly a one off the color science and the Panasonic sensor has not been seen since..
Even the D3 as much as everyone wants to put the two together is a bit different..
I have both and I always lean towards the D700 colors and final image quality.
The D3 has it's own Magic just not like the D700 both will stay with me till the end.

D700 whatever you shoot even if you made a bad photo from you're own mistake always looks good to even salvageable..
I've shot some epic photos in Moab Utah that were so underexposed that I considered tossing them, but I figured a little HDR bumping up the D lighting and what came out was beyond better than I expected.
The hidden Dynamic range from a D700 is there even when it looks impossible to recover.

I do think the old sensors made in the late 1990's and early 2000's made much more of an effort to look "film like". For those of us raised on film they still have a better "look" to them. The "clinical" over-sharpness of today's sensors just doesn't move me in the same way. They're nice-enough, but that indefinable character is sorely lacking.

All of Van Goghs paintings are "low resolution". Compare them with Salvador Dali's "High Resolution" paintings. Does it make a difference? Of course not. Silly consideration
