I vividly remember watching the morning session (was played about 2 weeks after I had finished my GCSEs). England were in absolute dreamland prior to lunch. The interval came at a good time for the West Indies to regroup.

Seeing how England threw away their advantage, they did well to draw the series. I still think the 2-2 scoreline vs such a great team deserved far more recognition than it received subsequently.

Atherton absolutely stuffed by Merv Kitchen here. To be fair, though, Merv did answer one of my appeals in the same year: 1991. Mind you, it was a gun barrel straight half volley that the opening batsman (who I won't name here to save his blushes in case he's watching) just completely missed. Happy days :)
