I still have mine, that I bought well used, 40 years ago. I kept reading and hearing how great the 10-22 is, but I couldn’t justify the purchase; I’ve got a great .22 auto loader.
My 66 is a tack driver. It was manufactured October 1967. I worked for Sears in the late sixties in the sporting goods department while in high school. I also have my single shot Ted Williams 20 ga. with the Savage adjustable choke at the end of the barrel. I paid $14 for it using my employee discount. . I always said that I would have worked that job for free and in reality I did. I spent almost every penny I made paying off my sporting goods layaway bill. It was a great time to be a kid back then.
I've got an Apache black and chrome model that was made in 1968. I bought it, used, in the mid 70s for $50. In the early 90s, it was stolen in a burglary. Within a year, the police recovered it and returned it to me. I'm so thankful for that. I've found my Nylon 66 to be utterly reliable and really accurate. I own several nice .22 rifles and the Nylon 66 is my favorite. Nice video, I enjoyed it.
My first rifle. My dad bought it for me as a birthday present about 50 years ago. Still have it sitting in the safe and use it around the farm for shooting gophers in the pasture.
Dad had one sitting in the closet for the longest... said it was given to him by a friend down in Georgia... Wouldn't let any one of us brothers have it... years later my daughter asked for it and he lovingly gifted it to her... It was the Apache black...
I love my Mohawk brown. I asked a State Police buddy which firearm he would want in his hands during a home invasion, a g19 or Nylon 66. He said, 4 or 5 rounds of 22hp in the face/neck region will stop anyone. I agree.
I grew up with the nylon 66. I saved my money for a long time when I was a kid just to pick one up. I think I paid $50 dollars for it. It still works well but is now owned by my grandson. Blessings brother
Great video H.R. my first rifle was a Remington Nylon 11 bolt action box magazine fed. Received it from my folks for my 10th birthday. 60 yrs later I still have it and it shoots and works as if just came out of the box new. My nephew had a Remington Nylon 66 in Apache black. thanks for taking the time to make this video.
