Great video on one of my favorite comics of all time! If you want to get into more Spider-Man comics, I'd recommend the Ultimate Spider-Man comics (2000 to 2011) which is a modern take on Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man. I'd also recommend J Michael Straczynski's run on the character (2001 to 2007) but please don't read Sin's Past. Most modern Spider-Man stuff is crap so I don't recommend them except for the new Ultimate Spider-Man series where Peter and Mary Jane have a family and he becomes Spider-Man at 35 instead of earlier in his life. The new Ultimate Spider-Man series is only 24 issues so it's far easier to read than the original Ultimate Spider-Man's 160 issues.

The reflections you make on "filling in the blanks" are interesting. It's an idea that I've thought about a lot recently. If the reader or audience aren't given all the details, then it leads to speculation. People can project whatever they want to see in those gaps in the story, which can either be really effective in order to build up anticipation (which can heighten emotions), or backfire tremendously. I think what people think happened in between the lines can usually say more about the reader than anything, so for the writer or artist to guide the reader somewhat to a certain kind of conclusion has to be difficult to pull off to be effective.
As you asked for comic recommendations... I'm not sure if it will be your thing or not, but I have been keeping up with Space Boy over the last few years. It's started updating weekly again online, though I think there are physical volumes out too. It's a kind of YA sci-fi drama about high-school students (not why I read it) with themes of existentialism, alienation, and trauma later on (absolutely why I read it). It is also a love story.

(But you did have someone check in on you when you got sick... right?)

Jungle fever

Start out: Great Video, I love your take on the mini-series as someone who didn't necessarily follow the exact chain of events of the original comics. I also feel the story's only weakness (and Daredevil: Yellow's as well) is it's a story about the loss of a loved one but they don't recreate the actual death scene. "We met, we fell in love, I did some Hero stuff.....and later on you died"

Do want to add, Harry and Peter weren't friends (Harry was Gwen and Flash's friend and they were all snobs to begin with), but when Norman found out Peter was Spider-Man but got amnesia, Peter would visit Norman at the hospital to make sure he doesn't remember his identity. Harry sees Peter at the hospital and assumes Peter's there to comfort him. Harry becomes Peter's friend from then on even though he resented Mary Jane (nominally Harry's girlfriend) always flirting with Peter.

Norman's neglect, Peter constantly ditching him to go be Spider-Man, and MJ not really being in love with him all lead to Harry's drug addiction which puts him in a coma. That causes Norman to relapse into the Green Goblin and remember Peter's Spider-Man, so he kidnaps his girlfriend, Gwen, and....you know the rest.
