I was a kid in the 80s. Evo just sounds like Harley to me.

Nothing will ever match the early Harleys, but the Evo comes pretty close.

The day I need to hook my bike up to a computer to fix it is the day I hang up my helmet.

The carbed EVOs still have that sound that people want. Great to hear the younger guys are taking an interest in them.

The Evos are my whole life, yeah
After my first FLH shovelhead bobber, in 1986 I bought my first Softail Evo, which I still own today.
It’s a fantastic machine—I’ve ridden it for hundreds of thousands of kilometers across France and Europe.
It’s the last Harley-Davidson engine to retain the architecture of the revolutionary Knucklehead. Long live the Evos !

Still getting to know my shovelhead, but it’s been a sweetheart. Once I got the timing perfect and jetting right, it just sings and makes my heart happy. My wife is wanting to do sturgis this year so I’m considering getting her an evo dyna or fxr. I definitely look at evos as the next shovel. They’re cheap, garage buildable and maintainable, and can do anything.

I’m 48 and just bought my dream bike and first Harley, a beautiful 1998 Heritage Softail Classic. I’m in love with the Evo sound and feel😊

I was born in '88 and wanted an FXR from the same year. Couldn't find one in my price range but a '92 FXLR came up for sale for $3,800. I saw it and knew it was going to be mine. The bike was clean other than the fact that it was jetted pig rich and the valve seals were leaking. Talked the guy down to $3,500 with the agreement that I would send him pictures every year. I am a man of my word and usually around the 4th of July I always send some pictures. The Evo is the in between bike from the shovelhead and twin cam, just sophisticated enough. I have so much more respect for someone that can keep an old bike on the road than a chump that walks in the dealership and applies for a loan. Great video.

I was never really a Harley guy until I wanted a retro naked standard bike and realized the Evo Sportster ticked all the boxes for what I was looking for. I love it and could definitely see myself getting another Evo engine bike in the future. Even 40 years after their introduction they're still bringing new people into the world of Harleys.

Great history dude ! A lot of people don't realize how the Evo was an evolution for Harley and AMF helped bring that era in.

The EVO is the bike I wanted as a 18 year old kid  and now I own 4 of them. They just hold a special place in my heart!

I am 41. I own two EVO bikes. 1989 and 1993. Love riding the older stuff. I do consider them “old”. Both run historical tags.

My ride is a 98 Dyna Low Rider.  It's had motor work done all the way up to the camshaft.  It rips for what it is.  It's showing its age but I'll never trade it in.  I love the Evo, it's the best blend of modern and vintage Harley engines.

When I started riding harleys it was around 2005 and I bought a 77 Ironhead, a 28 year old bike. I just recently bought a 98 evo softail to chop. It is a 28 year old bike. I am loving this evo. I bought it for 4k and it is super clean. Still really simple, no crazy electronics other than a dyna 2000i ignition and the VOES. I could run points if I wanted to and ditch the VOES. This thing does not leak a drop and runs great. I'd love to have a panhead someday but I think I would still keep this evo.

My first Harley was a 76 Sportster, my latest was and custom chop built in 95.  Just bought a half million dollar house, been retired still riding on a chop.

I have owned a Pan,Shovel,EVO, and a twin cam. The evo was hands down the best!

Riding a '91 EVO sportster 883 DLX. Of course maintenance had to be done on engine and carb but this bike is still now so... amazingly working well, sounds great, works great, has some punch ! I love it.

Still have my Sturgis but my last new bike was my 95 Low Rider that I still own and will keep til I die . The EVO years were some of the most exciting times with bikes like the springer softails  and the EVO is the last true Harley engine with the same basic architecture as the 36 knuckle. I just turned 70 and still love my old shovel head but I ride my EVO a lot more .

My son was 6 when I took him on his first electraglide ride in ‘94
He now has a ‘96 sportster .. 👍

Awesome video, dude. I'm 25 and caught the Harley bug during my MSF course on a Street 500. This year, I finally got my first bike: a '97 XL1200C for $1,500. It was a project, but I fixed everything on it. For younger guys like me getting into Evo's, online info is a lifesaver. I'd love to see you do more Evo content for our crowd, especially a Shovelhead-inspired Evo build!
