Which Fallout 4 legendary weapon effects are worth keeping? This guide explains Two Shot, Explosive, Instigating, Never Ending and Kneecapper through practical weapon demonstrations, including Overseer’s Guardian, Spray n’ Pray and Admiral’s Friend.

We compare Overseer’s Guardian with a regular combat rifle using matching .308 receivers and attachments, explore Explosive’s splash-damage risks, and explain when opening-hit damage, uninterrupted firing or crippling enemy movement can be useful.

In this video:
• Two Shot — damage, projectile spread and a semi-automatic recoil comparison
• Explosive — Spray n’ Pray, perk choices and friendly-fire risks
• Instigating — Admiral’s Friend and the full-health requirement
• Never Ending — an automatic 10mm pistol that avoids reload interruptions but still consumes ammunition
• Kneecapper — a Gatling Laser that helps control approaching enemies

“Kneecapper” with a fast fire rate is awesome against melee enemies for sure, but I am particularly fond of “Wounding” with its stackable bleeding damage that nothing has a resistance to.

TLDR: “Kneecapper” situational, “Wounding” universal.

Explosive is just so devastating with Area of Effect damage. You don't even need line of sight to hit.

If I get a high fire rate knee capper weapon I don't use it myself. I give it to a companion. The companion can slow the enemy down while I blast it with something powerful.

Instigating is the goto legend mod for stealth snipers. I've cleared entire camps from a distance with scoped long range head shots. Used to do it primarily in VATS, but I find it more fun aiming down sights or by scope and doing it manually now. Primarily use VATS now to get a bead on where they are first, particularly if they are moving behind cover. Two Shot on a modified Gauss is also a pretty solid insta kill option for most enemies. Never really played around with Kneecapper or Explosive mods since the weapons they are most useful on are the ones I don't like using (aka automatic and scatter weaps).

Yeah, it's surprising how many people don't fully read the fact that the Neverending effects description reads unlimited ammo CAPACITY. They only read the first two words, and that's why they get it wrong.

armor with the assassin's effect is great for use with explosive weapons. since the player character is classified as human, assassin's effect protects from your own splash damage. combine it with the padded and dense armor mods and the adamantium skeleton perk and you can literally shoot the ground right at your feet with an explosive shotgun and be just fine.

A Never-Ending Double Barrel Shotgun is a thing of beauty, every player needs to experience at least once.

@BushidoMaster13-e7i 22 hours ago

A fully automatic plasma pistol is also devastating at higher levels turning everything into green goo.

Had a kneecapper double-barerel shot gun on one play-thru. Usually one blast from that crippled the meanist of baddies

Keep all 10 mm that does bonus damage to a certain group. Collect them all and carrie them with you. A ghoul hunting 10mm will still quickly take down the toughest ones.

Never ending is best on a weapon with a small magazine and a long reload. It’s insane on the double-barreled shotgun: because the weapon normally only has two shots, Bethesda didn’t limit its fire rate. A never ending double-barreled shotgun is a lead fire hose… for as long as you have shells in your inventory.

I was thinking Instigating Super-sledge with Blitz and Ninja for sneaking up and use deliverer to quickly fill the crit meter up. Still another 5 to 10 levels away. I am in the process of getting Lorenzo’s gun after I found a never ending gamma gun this week. Heard good things about that combo.

Personally i think kneecapper is a better effect than Crippling

If I don't like a legendary I give it to settlers or hang it on the wall. If I do like it I use it or give it to a companion. Piper looks cool as hell with the pray and spray.

@randyjackson511 9 hours ago

Neverending is an incredible affect on a shot gun because reload speed and a normal two shot is terrible. It turns a double barrel into a really great weapon.

The two shot guass rifle is superior to any other guass rifle legendarys because how good it is in vants but i never found a guess rifle with the unlimited Ammo ik this sounds over powered maybe it can goes over the two shot guass rifle the explosive shotgun is ofc better then 2 shot and the explosive minigun

So this test was not done apple to apples. You need to look at it with all on the same weapon. And assume that you have the relevant perc for that gun type is maxed. A shotgun with explosive and full demo expert is the best. every pellet does splash. the damage and area is crazy. He is correct watch out for others and in close quarters. Two shot is not good they have tested this for ever the 2nd bullet gets no buffs from perks. Instigating on a sniper rifle can be coo. try and make a one shot long range build. Powerful is great I use that often. Knee capper is great to stop deathclaws from walking over to you. Also theres a supermutant in far harbor at a plane wreck that can sell dogs if you do not kill him
