When I first arrived in South Korea, I thought Seoul was only for Seoul residents. What made the freedom to visit a city feel so unfamiliar?
Join me, a North Korean defector, for a day of home life, university, and finding my way through Seoul—and discover what everyday choices mean to me.
What everyday freedom do you treasure most?

Thank you so much for your encouragement and interest in my everyday life in South Korea. What I’ve shared is just a tiny glimpse of life here, and I look forward to showing you more! 💛
Most students in South Korea walk to school. When new apartment neighborhoods are built, schools are among the first things planned nearby. 🎒🏫 In rural areas, some children take school buses or public buses, while others get a ride from their parents. But for most students, getting to school means a walk—and perhaps a little chat with friends along the way! 🚶♀🚶♂
Thank you for sharing these everyday moments with me. Have you made any special memories in Korea? Or what is everyday life like where you live? I’d love to hear your stories! 🌏💬
