The book you were examining at 20:28 was a biography of author Harriet Beecher Stowe. She wrote the novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" in 1852. It was an anti-slavery story that helped turn a lot of people against slavery before the Civil War (which started in 1861).

The super-expensive books were either very rare, or there was something else special about them (like being first editions, or signed by the authors).

Hello Ms Hana! When you first went into the Bookstore and the look of astonishment on your face...you looked like you could cry...that really moved me. I always get choked up whenever someone is overwhelmed by something that they adore, be it a person, animal, place, or object. It's like I see "Joy" happen in real time. If I lived ear that place, I'd go as often as I could. What a marvelous, special place! The fan who recognized you both, when I watch what happened it was really great. He turned around and saw Hana, then quickly looked and saw Ina then pulled out his phone and moments later approached Ina. That must be WILD to be recognized in the US by a fan!  If Ms Ina wants some "traditional" and "well known" cookbooks here are 3 - Julia Child: Mastering the Art of French Cooking was groundbreaking and has over 500 recipes of French cooking but adapted to American style. Julia Child: The Way to Cook is another classic even though it's much more recent. Better Homes and Garden: New Cook Book is a book that was probably found in most American homes since the 1930s. The Last Bookstore is such a sad but fitting name. They used to be everywhere.

If you ever visit Oregon, you should visit Powell's bookstore in Portland. It usually has 900,000 to a million books in store. It's the largest independent bookstore in the world.

Following you two through this bookstore makes me realize how much I miss Borders...

That was such a fascinating store! You could spend days there!

Out of print books, especially early editions, can get very expensive, but yes, people do buy them.

What a beautiful bookstore! I'm so glad you filmed your time there. Thank you for the tour. My generation grew up reading books. I was an avid reader. Unfortunately today, children don't read books like they used to because everything is on the internet. I hope the younger generations discover the magic of reading a good book.
