Serial killers are the dark stars of modern culture, but is it nature or nurture that creates a serial killer? Born To Kill takes an in-depth look at the cases of some of the most notorious murderers that have shocked the world.

Former juvenile delinquent and unpredictable neighbourhood terror Trevor Joseph Hardy grew to be a man of no redeeming qualities. His short career of murderous crimes (three teenage girls between 31 December 1974 to 8 March 1976) struck Manchester police by his repeated dismemberment of one victim and the removal of a nipple each from his other two - by his teeth. Sisters of one victim recall the lovely qualities of their lost sib while the brother of the perpetrator - himself a survivor - gives personal accounts of the frightening and unconscionable black sheep of his family.

This film was first broadcast: 2016

Colin, you did all you could to stop your brother. You have nothing to be sorry for hun. You, absolutely, seem like a wonderful, honest, caring man.

It is so difficult to understand how two brothers brought up in the same household could be so different😮😮😮

@Iamhermajesty9 3 years ago

I’m glad that they take time to talk about who the victims were . And that the family can still speak about their love for their sister with a smile on their face

Colin is the kind of brother that anyone should be blessed to have. Top bloke, hope hes managed to resist the inner demons.

This is the kind of voice you want to narrate serial killer documentaries, there is some nostalgia to it, like it can take you back down the memory lane of those involved

Sheila cost a girl her life from protecting him!! 😔

Colin, Nothing was your fault. Thank you for participating in this story and telling us Your side. I wish you peace and hope your life is going well.

I’ve a lot of respect for Colin, despite being viciously attacked by his brother he reported him and did the right thing. What I hate is how he did the right thing and got no justice, he then struggled and got into trouble himself when he couldn’t cope, whilst his brother was just happily committing horrendous crimes.

I know people say that some people are wired wrong, but this guy? Jeezus!!!

@ladydreadqs639 3 years ago

I know quite a bit about British serial killers but have never heard of this guy and that's awful because it means his victims are also never mentioned either and they need to be remembered.

What I don't get is why wasn't Trevor at least charged, at least in the first place, with his attack on Colin? That would have given them investigation room, and got the rabid creature of the streets. He had such a reputation already.

Not your fault Colin you did everything you could. As for the justice service I hope life is life. I hope for all the families including the perpetrators get to find peace.

Regardless of it being many decades later, I am extremely sorry to all the families who lost someone.🕊️

The 1970s & 80s were the absolute worst decades to go missing in especially as a teenager,you were labeled a runaway and no one looked for you.

Colin is a decent bloke, hope everyone can heal best they can

@michaelorsini9695 3 years ago

Not a tough guy...just a weak little boy who destroyed women and couldn't build anything meaningful with his life because he had no real character.

I really wish these programs would stop playing loud music when people are speaking. It's irritating and very distracting 😡

I played out with Vanda,we lived in the same steet untill I was 4 in 1961 when we moved,but only a quarter of a mile away. I could see where she was killed from our window across a field. Heart breaking!!! I often think about her! RIP Wanda(pronounced Vanda) ❤

"Hardy collapsed in his cell at Wakefield Prison on 23 September 2012 after suffering a heart attack. He died in the hospital two days later, aged 67. He had spent 35 years in prison and was one of the longest-serving prisoners in England and Wales."
