In this video, I break down why 2026 has truly become the year of the underdog in the UFC and go through the major upsets that have made this one of the most unpredictable years in recent MMA history. From massive betting favorites getting exposed to champions losing fights almost nobody expected them to lose, it feels like no fighter has been safe this year. I revisit the biggest shocks of 2026, including Justin Gaethje defeating Ilia Topuria, Sean Strickland upsetting Khamzat Chimaev, Song Yadong knocking out Umar Nurmagomedov, Jeremiah Wells submitting Myktybek Orolbai, Sean Sharaf shocking Gable Steveson, and several other underdogs who completely destroyed the betting odds. I break down how each upset happened, how shocking it was at the time, and what happened to both fighters afterward. If 2026 has taught us anything, it is that there are no guarantees in MMA.
