The very best Hojicha I’ve tasted in Singapore is from Top Quali Tea, a Kyoto-sourced chain run by a former Japanese teacher living here.

Thanks for showing my old hometown. I grew up there, in rural Bukit Panjang village when there were  farms and rubber plantations. I don't recognize the place anymore, except the old Telecoms building where there were plenty of pastures for my goats. We were relocated to Sunset Way estate in the 1980s...

1. We SG have the Best Greeneries inside estates area in the whole Universe. We are the champion.
2. toilets in community  ctrs are also supposed to be the best per square foot. clean and spacious and free, with toilet papers

Lowkey Bukit Panjang LRT is a roller coaster for how bumpy the rides can be, and also the sharp turns XD

Welcome to my neighbourhood since 2000,  my side of the woods in ulu northwest region known for ulu nature walks and greenery and that problematic lrt line when it first started eons ago. It's much better now in terms of transport options.  From a heartland westie uncle to a metropolitan eastie😂 welcome.  And Yes the second floor used to be a wet market with stalls selling fresh food but because  most  people dun venture upwards and there is already a vibrant wet market stalls at bangkit just next to the hawker centre so they had to close those on 2nd level. The tenants now is a mix mash of clothing  electronic repair .no one wants to venture up...the most prominent nowadays is the seafood restaurant on the 2nd level for dinner and a new active aging centre at the corner I tink for old folks like myself heading into retirement years.....anyway the younger folks  nowadays are at the senja hawker centre with some of the newer stalls and shops on that side of my BP neighbourhood....

I once nearly got scammed by a local retailer.  Never again I trust SG retailers!  Especially on the heart land.  Don't blame me, blame those greedy retailers!

“Foreigner pricing “ is downright racist. I grew up in Singapore . Dad is British, mum is Singaporean. I really wanted to be a local, but was constantly exposed to “foreigner pricing” and taxi drivers trying to scam me. I think it’s a big reason why I gave up trying to be a Singaporean and left when I finished school….

Yes, you were almost cheated by a dishonest retailer, and that’s definitely not acceptable. At the same time, I’ve had many good experiences with other retailers, so I’m a little puzzled and sad by comments suggesting we should avoid all retailers just because of a few bad apples. Taking that approach could mean missing out on plenty of pleasant and positive retail experiences with honest businesses.

Yeah... The ugly side of SG. Cut throat prices! Do be ware, the are many places now becoming cutthroats in SG.  That is why I don't patronize retailers in SG anymore.
