Can a Rice Cooker Handle a Full English Breakfast?

I tried to cook a full English breakfast in a rice cooker. One chaotic “all in at once” attempt, and one more sensible version using the steamer tray. The results were hilarious… and surprisingly tasty.

Tried two versions of a full English in the rice cooker – one chaotic, one a bit more sensible. What else should I attempt in it next time?

Don't put the toast inside a steamy pot. The lid gets hot, hence, put the toast on top of the lid to warm it up again.

You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should 😂

@3:05 - No, it's nothing about weight changing that determines if a rice cooker switches back to warm mode. It's all about temperature. As soon as the temperature rises above 100C/212F, which it can't do when there's still free water, THAT is when it switches back down to Warm (generally 65 C/150 F).

You could have warmed the toast up on the lid

That rice cooker doesn't flip to warm based on weight. Instead there is a magnet inside that completes the circuit for cooking. When all the water is gone and the temperature of the food rises above 100c the magnet looses it's magnetic property and releases the circuit. When cooled it becomes magnetic again.

Instead of putting the toast inside, put it on top of the glass top toward the end warm one side, flip, warm the other. May not retain all the crunch but it would certainly be better than steaming it. Otherwise, it all made good sense!

When I was in university I used to cook a full English breakfast in a 4 slice toaster. Using those toastie bags they used to sell. Eggs in one with milk and butter. Sausage and bacon in another one. Beans in a third one and slice of bread in the final slot.

I grew up in Malaysia in the 90’s. So we would go to hotels in and around Malaysia for weekends away etc. I remember one hotel had rice cookers full of “English breakfast” items (in “” because they were chicken sausages and chicken bacon along with homemade beans that were haricot beans in tomato ketchup) all piled on top of each other. We went to the hotel often and it was a very exclusive 5* resort but we got a great deal thanks to dads company.

The resort was amazing but the breakfast was unique. 10/10 for trying and I’m sure they’d likely never had a traditional English breakfast in the UK, but little child Alex was confused. So this video has just brought some childhood memories come flooding back!

You're in a small hotel room in Asia and the only cooking implement you have is a rice cooker - you can actually do a great job with it. I love it.

Rice cookers cannot go above 100C. They shut off if they do.
That is because liquid water cannot go above 100C.

Mate, I lived in Thailand 16 years, Laos 4 years an Vietnam nearly 1 year...... In my time I have seen the humble rice cooker used to make cheese on toast before!
