In this video, I will show you how to model realistic asphalt using very simple techniques. The material I am using is called Silly Winks 2mm foam sheets. The sheets are available at Hobby Lobby and are priced at 99 cents per each 12 x 18 sheet. The material is light weight and very easy to cut. If you are looking to model realistic asphalt, this might be a technique worth trying. Enjoy the video!

Very Nice....the "tar snakes" (the bane of every motorcyclist) are the perfect touch...your comment about "not perfect" is great...i've seen crews using both a large spray wand and a large spouted pitcher to fill the cracks....here in Fla. the asphalt can bake into almost a concrete grey color if it's quite old or hasn't seen enough traffic to compress the asphalt repeatedly to bring the volatile oils to the surface...lots of housing developments that get started with streets and even underground utilities but are abandoned when the money runs out or the lots don't get sold.....chest high weeds and street signs poking through...

nice video, but one thing no one mentions, on a full layout, is how to fill the gaps between foam sheets where they abut.
