Of all the YOUTUBE videos I've seen relating to roads, this is the best by far...thank you...

You just Metaphorically saved my life, I've been having a f***ing nightmare making roads out of plaster, thanks for the video my emery paper roads look fab!

Yet to start my first ever diorama so want to keep it as cheap as possible and this will be perfect for me as a beginner. I like the fact that it looks weathered too without too much effort. Thanks for the idea.

I used love Bunnings when I lived there....I miss Perth...

Great idea for roads, just about to embark on making some roads on my own diorama so will certainly be using this method! 👍🏻

Thanks so much for putting this video up - I’ve done exactly what you’ve said but used some craft spray adhesive (as I had it) and going to use track pins to secure the edges in.  I’ve allowed extra either side with the idea that pavements or scenic material will mask the edges (as you describe in the last bit).  Fantastic video and thanks - really helped a lot.  Best from London, UK : )

Thanks Gormo now I’ve got the answer to how best to lay the roads I need on my layout!

Thanks very interesting

Water colour pencils - what a great idea. Masking off and painting road markings is such a palaver, and they always end up looking too clean and neat at the end. Nice shot of the townscape looking along the bridge and it just shows what can be achieved with a little imagination. Another inspirational idea to take away. Thanks Gormo and stay well.

Thanks Gormo. That’s an inspiration!

That's real good mate cheap quick and effective. I have used wet and dry before but  your stressing method works really well and the best white line method I have seen thanks for that I am just at that stage with my layout at this moment and will do the same I did wonder about the white line issue and that is a great way to do it quick and effective thanks for that. FROM THE UK.

Great tip four making the  road  keep up the good work

Great tips, thanks for sharing!

¡Hola buenos días Gormo!  As ever, a down-to-earth approach to a scratch build item. The line scaling is the most difficult, as you mentioned, but practice will get it done. Trust you’re staying fit and well down under. Un saludo. Gary

Thanks

Great idea gormo I will have a go at that

I find if you roll the pencil in your fingers as you scribed the line it keeps a sharp point to give a constant thickness. A tip I was given back in my drafting days way before computer drawing.

Great video, they look so realistic, thanks for sharing

Hi Gormo, Thanks so much for this video! I've been watching road making videos for far too long, looking for the one which sticks out and I have found it. I've had the thought in the past of using wet/dry paper, but had not pursued it.......until now. You've sold me. :-) Have been enjoying your channel for several weeks now and still have more vids to watch. It's one of the best I've seen for budget minded folks. Another question.....how do you do grade crossings?

Bloody good idea mate. Just started a new “mini layout” mainly a diorama and have been mulling over what to do the road surface in, and bingo! Thank you for the idea, off to Bunnings 🇦🇺🦘👍🏻
