I emailed Romero around 2005 as a 13 year old and told him I'd been playing the game with my dad since I was 3 and had also been given nightmares for months upon seeing the rabbit head on a stick at the end; a day later he emails me back with a sincere thank you and his apologies; was still one of the coolest things that happened to me as a teenager, Romero is an awesome dude no question!

"There is a much darker time line where John Carmack kills us all."
He recently went into AI development so that time line is this one.

My biggest Doom 2 celebrity moments was when Adrian Carmack and Linda Romero both complimented my Doom 2 fanart. I rode that high for weeks.

"If Batman was a gun, he'd be this."
Fitting considering the super shotgun has a grappling hook now.

That Full Metal Jacket scene had me in tears.  All time best parody of that scene, nothing else comes close.

I literally just realised that in nirvana the first weapon you find is a shotgun... That's fucking cold Id

As a proud Texan, I can confirm that while no, we don't have Imps above your veiw hight, it's quite common for a gunfight to break out in the streets.

Civvie: The super shotgun is perfect exactly the way it is

Bethesda/ID: let's slap a grappling hook on that sumbitch

8:45 Civvie: talks about how good the arachnotron sounds.
Also Civvie: uses the loudest goddamn weapon in the game so you can’t actually hear the arachnotron.

6:34 "Homing missiles that do somewhere between 20 and 60,000 HP damage" lol, sounds about right

I love the fact that the first thing you see in the "Nirvana" level is a double barrel, also known as "Kurt Cobain's Microphone"

8:11 "The arachnotron: A smaller version of the Spider Mastermind that didn't watch enough Rick and Morty"

Criminally underrated line

With that final message about killing John Romero, it means that if John Romero was murdered, whoever killed him will be the first and only person to truly beat Doom 2.

You forgot to add the part where they had a psych analysis performed on Carmack when he was in juvie and the analyst concluded was a sociopath with 0 empathy for people. That dude is an Lovecraftian Elder God in disguise.

I gotta love how civvie was gonna go on a tangent on how Carmack made a 3D game run at 35 fps on stuffy old 90's computers but then got sidetracked again over Carmack stealing school property
He never actually went into detail about the doom engine and how it was misused in the factory

Doom guys: "Let's look in this closet."

Closet: (all of the Revenants)

"The Crusher" is one of the names for Hell in Islam. Devs named that level for that reason and threw in an actual crushing ceiling for irony.

The Super Shotgun is so amazing in every way that it retroactively ruins DOOM 1 if you go back to it after 2.

9:38 oh god my sides

“I’ve been killing these things since I was six years old.”

I’M OLDER THAN CIVVIE AND I NEED TO RETHINK MY LIFE.
