A little bit of copyright trouble this go around with the latest video, still waiting on the green light to post that. So here's a compilation of all of my reviews for FMAB. Like, comment, subscribe, you know the deal.

My favorite thing about Kimblee is that Kimblee, the evilest guy in the show, the man who causes mass death and destruction for shits and giggles, immensely respects Edward Elric (his exact polar opposite) because he isn't a hypocrite, and Kimblee hates hypocrisy

The Dwarf was made from Hohenheims blood basically as kind of a channeled human transmutation. When characters do human transmutation theyre brought before the truth and the gate and the gate opens and they exchange some of their body for the knowledge within. If you note though, the knowledge beyond the gate shares an aesthetic with the dwarf. So best guess is somehow the Xerxes Alchemists managed to pull a fragment of whatevers beyond the gate into the real world in the form of the dwarf. Hence why it has so much knowledge as well, it literally is made from the stuff. Also why its door is blank, its never had to learn anything. It has no path to knowledge because it never sought any out because it assumed it already had it all.

I like how you mix up Edward with his dad in the opening because you haven't seen his dad yet. It's a clever detail they hid in the opening that can only be appreciated on your second watch through.

19:28 “what a terrible day for rain” is him referencing how he can’t use his alchemy when it’s raining. He’s saying he feels so absolutely useless in that moment

0:44:00 The reason for Edward being distraught over the fact that the monstrosity that appeared was NOT his mother, is because he realized that it wasn't just a failure of alchemy that caused the destruction of both his and Alfonz's bodies. Instead, it was something that was never going to work in the first place. So, the pain he put himself and his brother through for this impossibility was, in fact, pointless suffering.

Not sure if anyone brought it to light, but Al's armor body does belong to Hohenhiem.  Not too sure why the anime changed it, but when Al and hohenhiem meet in Liore, in the manga, Al yells "Dad"  and Hohenhiem yells "My armor".  Pretty much the only thing that confirms the armor is his, other than the fact it was in his room to begin with.

To explain Mustangs fire alchemy, it is purposefully vague in how it works for a while, but essentially when it is explained he is changing the chemical composition of air, making a path of highly combustable air towards his target, therefore by snapping his fingers with his friction gloves he can create a small spark which ignites his transfigured air. He doesnt create flame. This is why when he fights I think lust he turns water into chlorine or something, because technically he specialises in transmuting gases.

43:50 he actually said he was glad it wasnt his mom. He cried in relief

17:17 I always saw the "deliver a baby" episode as the contrast to what Ed and Al tried to do in the first episode: create life. They tried to cheat, and do it in a way that was unnatural while also wholly clinical. Scienceing a human together.
The baby? Made with passion between two people, it was messy and took forever to make one small little human. How could Ed and Al ever hope to have replicated that?

Ed is sad because he realized their venture was doomed from the start, it was never possible to bring back their mother, they maimed themselves for absolutely nothing. Essentially he found out that the biggest mistake of his life was even bigger than he realized

43:55 because it means that their theory about human transmutation was so wrong they didn't lose their bodies for a chance to save their mother, they lost them for nothing at all.

Not seeing the similatiries between fathers abilities and how philosophers stones work is pretty insane

I will say, with the Alphonze identity question, if he ASKS if he's real its simultaneously an accusation that his brother is merely playing pretend and is desecrating his memory in the process. Its a horrible thing to say and its WHY the two closest people to him get upset with him, he's getting lost in how he feels and forgetting that the traumatic event he went through was shared with his brother and, to a lesser extent, Winry as she sees her childhood friend show up on her doorstep maimed and dying.

19:30 i understand why the "it a terrible day for rain" doesn't land for everybody but i think one of the reasons it works is because its mentioned repeatedly mustang is useless in the rain

I’m positive someone has probably said it but mustang wears ignition gloves so when he snaps his fingers it creates a spark (which is why he is useless in rain) then uses the oxygen to spread it in a direction.

A terrible day for rain I took as he was useless as a day in the rain. He felt useless 🤷🏻‍♂️

2:34 what i love about that scene in the OP is that's not Ed in the shot before his mom shows up, its Eds dad from when he was still a slave in Xerxes and you would only really catch that if you have seen the anime before. i just think its cool they have that there.

I think the main point of not having Roy kill Envy in the state he was in was SPECIFICALLY because they didnt want him to kill BECAUSE he was Angry, but because it set the precedent that anger justifies killing. Yes, this is an extreme case, but they dont want him internalizing "I can kill someone because I'm mad."

The pacing for the early parts of Brotherhood is a bit off because they really kinda expect that youve watched the first part of 2003 already. Its a whole thing with the 2 versions, tldr they made FMA back in 2003 when the manga was still being written but then caught up with the manga and instead of waiting just went on ahead an made their own thing. Later once the manga was done they came back and made Brotherhood to actually represent the manga. Except because they'd already covered the parts before they split off in to their own thing once, they didnt want to do it again so they kinda abridge the first bits to get back to where they split off.
