I hate it when they take a brand, butcher it, then claim it’s the same brand.

Hollywood writers hate original source material because they are incapable of writing anything original. So they write their own versions out of spite or what they see fit.

“Evil cannot create anything new; they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made.”
‐J.R.R. Tolkien

Last time we let a bunch of nerds create a love letter to the source material, it won countless awards and the New Zealand tourism agency has been riding that wave ever since

They hate it because it wasn’t their idea. They are no talent narcissists.

Bad writers: "This IP would be so much better if the main character was just like me".

In the 2000s, writers were merely embarrassed by the source materials but at least tried to capture the essence of the stories. These days, they steal the visuals but don't adapt the stories or character personalities as properly. Marvel Studios has increasingly become that way.

This is why I respect Henry Cavill because he actually respected the source material of The Witcher! Then you have Karl Urban, who respected the source material for Judge Dredd!

Without respect we reject

They hire based on ideology, not by talent. That and mediocrity inspire mediocrity.

Basically this sums up modern writers.
1. By having grown-up humor, you make it more *childish*.
2. By "modernizing" the dialogue, you make it more *dated*.
3. By changing the source material, you show how much you don't respect what's already *perfect*.

The Witcher is the best example of this. Henry tried and failed to save them from themselves.

They hate it because its not the story / message they want to tell, but they know no one is interested in the story/message they want to tell.

They hate it because it doesn't fit their narrative, their propaganda.

This is like if someone reimagined the Green Lantern source material and said, “What if we take Green Lantern and get rid of everything that makes it interesting.”

If I'm a fan of something, I want adaptions that celebrate the source material, not adaptions made with ignorance or even contempt for the source material.

If this were a Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated episode, Mindy Kaling and her stooges would be dressing up as monster versions of the heroes causing trouble to Crystal Cove for petty reasons.

6:08 SEEMED TO?! the show was literally called MINDY, before the re-skin

When I envisioned a Green Lantern show, I thought we were going to get space cop shennigans with Hal and Jon. Instead we got this.
