I just finished a 7 card “collection” of cards, and the last one I bought was that Pat Jarvis card.  The cards are the player that were Ryan’s fist, last, and 1/2/3/4/5k strikeouts.  All as Topps cards and from the year of the strikeout.  The exception is, Jarvis was struck out in September of the year before his Rookie card was issued.  So cool you have the autograph and that inscription!

Mike, great video.Too bad you missed out on two of your most sought after cards.I am sure
that this has happened to a lot of us card collectors. What does amazes me is that you can
keep yourself on a budget when it comes to cards.I do not have that strength.Another great
mail day. Some great pickups  plus some very nice gifts from  your viewers.Thanks.

Good luck on the car repairs!… my family has owned an auto repair shop here in CA for 60 years, if ya ever need an opinion give me a holler 🤙🏻

IMO that Gwynn has amazing eye appeal!! I have an '84(signed by Tony when I was at his baseball school in SD when I was like 12, '86-'87 maybe) that has a similarly looking auto without the smudge. Bummer man, but not surprised it went bonkers like that.

AMEN brother. My wife & I need to replace driveway & walkway (Probably 11k for the whole project). Decided that I can cash out cards and use profits OR use "family money"; decided to sell some cards and take the profits to pay for the project. As NEO says "You can always buy them back". Stick to the budget; when the market "resets", those who did not go neck deep will be safe

If you find those acetate cards without all the yellowing, buy em when you see them. Most change color over time due to poor storage but they are out there.

To each his own, but my hobby mind is in full COVID era mode. Between the hype and the shilling, I'm at peace and fully anticipating not picking up much over the next few years. I'm enjoying every night looking at my cards for a bit over a drink, and just keeping the powder dry for when all this blows over AGAIN. And it WILL.

Such a gut punch when our hopes are high and end up being not even close. You had to deal with TWO. It just wasn’t your time. They weren’t the right ones. I also admire a fellow stickler when it comes to sticking to budget. Onward and upward. 💪🏼💪🏼

I love the small dollar cards of players, teams, years and designs that you enjoy.   With the lower cost we can look at more cards!

Gwynn is severely UNDERRATED in the market. Many 90s era pitchers said he was the hardest player to pitch to. One of the best hitters of all time

Hi Mike. I have a signed Jarvis card with that inscription in my collection. Certainly, one of the coolest inscriptions ever. The Mookie Betts card is amazing. I hope your back gets better soon. Take care and thanks for sharing.

I've been very strict on my budget too, but when rarities come into play, I alter the budget in a way that I can sell another card.. another card that is easier to replace. I get the rarity, less 1 card (for the time being).. but ultimately in a better place.

.. I have a Puckett Kay-Bee toys Auto if you're interested.

My three rookie Gwynn's aren't graded, but are sharp cards. Tried to send a photo of them, but it won't let me upload the pics. Never had that happen before, lol.

Also collect 80s HOF and star autos. The prices have gone insane for the auto rookie cards so I have been picking up autographed inserts. Been looking for a Gwynn auto and finally picked one up last month. It was a 2000 Fleer Fresh Ink for $100. Rather have the rookie but still got a playing years Gwynn auto and I am happy.

When you least expect it those cards will find their way into your collection. Right now things are insane. Soon enough something else will be the super hot & cards like the ones you want will slide their way to you. Thumbs Up!

I had piriformis syndrome where it pinches the sciatic nerve. Months of physical therapy and routine stretches helped immensely. Its been years with no pain. Wish you well on yours. Its no fun.

Just found your channel today and I'm enjoying the videos. Just finished building a 1987 topps o-pee-chee complete set. My goal is to collect every major set from topps 1980 to 1989 and also some leaf, o-pee-chee, fleer and donruss sets in between. Sorry to hear about the Gwynn and Puckett. Hopefully you'll get another shot at them. Thanks again and God bless!

Sciatica is so annoying. I had a bad back injury about 15 years ago that required almost daily physical therapy for a few months. 8 years later sciatica kicked in. I did all the things I learned in PT, and it helped short term but it always came back. Finally I went to a chiropractor. I had to go a few times a week for maybe a month, but the results were incredible. I occasionally get minor back pain from some combo of bad posture, over exerting, and being old, but I can stretch all that out. However, the sciatica itself has not returned. So look into a chiropractor. That's my suggestion and I hope it gets better for ya sooner than later. But also keep up on basic stretching, there's a million youtube vids out there that can help you out. I neglect daily stretching, but I try to do it a few times a week. Godspeed, homie!

Hope you get some confirmation on what might be happening with the back.  I believe I have sciatica, albeit mildly if I do, because it doesn't bother me too often.  It has had me down and out of work for a week twice in my life.  Thankfully the last time was more than 15 years ago, though.

Some great pickups, some misses, and great gifts by subscribers,

I have subscribed to Karl from Oz's channel - absolutely love cricket! I see already that he has done a video on Vanity Fair prints. I absolutely love those too (have quite a few of them)! If you're not already aware of them, if you put 'List of Vanity Fair (British magazine) caricatures' into Wikipedia, you'll get an idea.

Hope your back clears up soon, Mike! Have a great weekend everyone!
