Last time I was this early, I was using a typewriter.

Hi JennaMo! Just dropping by to say that I haven't watched your content in literal years when I used to watch your content religiously, especially when you were first started getting traction on Youtube. After a while of consuming your writing advice I felt I learned all I could from you and the other Authortubers I followed back then and decided to put pen to paper. Though I still don't have nothing publish, I was feeling nostalgic and felt like checking up on your channel. I'm glad to see that you're still at it. I hope you, Cliff, and Butters all the good health and happiness in the world. I took a long hiatus from writing but here recently I wanted to get back into it. Seeing that you are still at it fills me with motivation. With that said I just want to thank you again for all of the years worth of advice you have given to all of us.

Since that you have years worth of unwatched content, I think I'll begin each writing session with one of your videos. That way I can stay motivated and catch up on your content.

As for writing under a pen name (from what I gathered in my research): a publisher and agent would need to know your real for contractual and financial purposes, however, if you do not want your real name disclosed beyond those formalities, they cannot legally reveal it (and they have a lot experience with that! Any author coming to the game now, is far from being the first :) ). Whether you're upfront about using a pen name with them (while querying or having the book out on submission) or only reveal it when a contract is being put together and they need information by you for that, doesn't seem to matter much. I'd say, if you have an agent keep them in the loop, they're there to fight on your behalf and know the ins and outs of the industry.

For self publishing it's easy, too. You only use your real name in your payment info and use the pen name everywhere else.

Omg I'm the first. Which is cringe af to say, and every time I see comments like this I judge the person hard. ...and now I get it 😂

Anywho, always appreciate the publishing and financial-related content, Jenna!

Yes please, I would love a video that lists your top favorite marketing platforms and tools.

@holly27796 1 day ago (edited)

Yes, please do a video on products and programs you use for publishing and marketing!

@tacboy78ify 2 days ago

To be honest I don't expect my book to be the next best seller, I'd be happy if I could just get it published 😂

@darrengaroutte7744 1 day ago

When it comes to editing, both on your own and with an editor, I've found it really helps to take a break from that project and either work on a new manuscript or just veg out and play some video games as a reward. I'd recommend 4 to 6 weeks, trust me it really helps when you come back at a project with fresh eyes. Grinding to do edits back to back to get something out is just exhausting and you're more likely to miss things because your brain still remembers everything and will auto correct stuff.

Lol that advice at 19:15 felt so real xD

Your author marketing advice was awesome, Jenna. I'm about to go on the book marketing journey for the first time for my epic fantasy romance novel, FateBound, and your insights are so supportive. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️

YES! I would love to see what programs and marketing tools you use! I know I can trust your judgement when it comes to apps. ♥

@myinkworld 2 days ago

Omg yes! Please make an updated video on marketing! I’m struggling to build my readership on instagram and threads, it feels like everything is being posted to the void, even though I try to follow the advice of other authors on what works. If you had to start from scratch, what would you do?

@Joe-Dadjokes 1 day ago

Hooray! My question got in (about furry friends)! Maybe this is just selection bias talking, but I think this is your best video ever.

We've recently hit a strange milestone. There are people out there who know the names of our animals and have deep cares about them... who I don't know. Totally weird, but hey, if our Office Minions can gain a fandom, our Urban Fantasy will hit it out of the park. ;)

@Matrim42 1 day ago

“That’s neurotic to the extreme”

Yeah! Haha…who would ever time how long they’re writing each time and then add it up and keep a running tally? That would just be weird…haha…yeah…

@smccut 17 hours ago

I've found your advice very helpful and I'd love to see a video with your marketing tools. That seems to be my weakest area.

The silver lining of the AI capitalist hellscape we currently live in is that, at least capitalism requires everything to be profitable, and AI is not profitable, thus we're probably going to be spared it by happenstance.

The only reason that lazy people are using generative AI now is because they have made it cheap/free and accessible in hopes that it'll become a crutch that these people are dependent. Once they have a captive customer base, they intend to hike the prices sky high. However, this is going to majorly fail because most business now have been there, done that, and know it didn't increase producticity or profit for the majority of them, and american consumers have been priced hiked out, and simply can't afford to take on any new major expenses, especially a crazy monthly expense just to make slop that nobody wants.

@jrester8444 2 days ago (edited)

@16:00 probably that, or extreme horror. It can be quite gruesome at times.

As for AI accusations, since I'm often paranoid that'd happen to me, I kept my absolute chaos of notes and drafts just in case.
