Is Leica selling its soul? The image sensor will no longer come from Sony, but will be developed in collaboration with the Chinese manufacturer Gpixel. In this video, I explain what's behind this and why Leica was never truly an island.

Leica is more than just a camera: the red dot, the philosophy of minimalism, the cult surrounding Wetzlar. That's precisely why this news is generating so much discussion. We'll look at the facts, the history of Leica sensors from Kodak through CMOSIS and AMS to Sony, and what this deal could mean for the Leica look.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments: Does the sensor's origin matter as long as the image quality is good, or does everything at Leica belong in Wetzlar?
