Humans are forerunner.

The lack of firefight is criminal

Their reputation was so tarnished that a rebrand was needed, yet they kept the same team. That tells you all you need to know.

Edit: To those saying it's not the same team, apparently it wasn't enough people to make a difference. It's been 15 years with no direction and no clue how to make a game that isn't a mess. The best they've done is remake games made by other people, and they can't even do that without screwing up.

Mate, if the studio ever listened to a single piece of feedback at any point we would be looking at a very different last 4 games.

36:06 this is what I've always called "Death by a thousand cuts". People call it nitpickin', but at a certain point it becomes a huge issue when a ton of, admittedly small, issues stick around. Each one on their own really is never that big a deal, but it compounds together.

@25:31 Cortana sounds disappointed and exasperated with everyone in the remake. She had a sense of wonder and surprise in the original

42:10 the stupid thing about the heavily overuse of the music is, that Marty adressed this years ago. several times. He exactly said that it would be annoying to always hear the same music.

06:38 caving Keyes' skull in wasn't disrespectful, it was merciful. In this remake, Chief digging his fingers into Keyes' brain to rip out the neural implants is torturous and disrespectful.

From what I understand, they TRIED to make in-game cutscenes work as some people who played during the HCS preview last year reported, but even the beefiest PCs on the market couldn't get rid of the lighting and texture popping caused by UE5. So what they did was get the most powerful super computer Microsoft could provide, hooked it up a huge server rack that acted as RAM for all of the 4k assets, and then recorded the cutscenes in-engine at 4k 30fps. I also really hate that they outright lied and said "It's to keep the narrative as faithful as possible" but at the same time, the alternative would mean admitting that UE5 is bad at something and that could hurt their reputation even more.

I honestly think a lot of the issues are because of the amount of outsourcing they do instead of in house. Despite how many years they took to make this, I'm always stunned the original came out in less than 4 years with less than 50 people.

Given the legal problems they've had in recent years, I'm surprised they didn't remake the entire soundtrack to avoid using any of Marty's work.

The reveal had me feel empty, seeing new Flood models had me a touch of hope, then the Q&A instantly lost me.

Just snagging the ripped assets and playing with those.

6:35 No it wasn't. It was mercy. John was putting the Captain out of his misery

I see memes about modern games where the game audibly hand hold you with stuff like "Look out, those enemies have swords, quick, use that sniper rifle you collected earlier and go up to those rocks there and take them out before they reach you! Here, I'll put a nav point there so you wont get lost!" alot recently... That scene where the marines say that the elites are using camo, I literally burst out laughing  and felt really icky at the same time. PLEASE LET US LEARN AGAIN!

I loved and totally agree with you on this video in every way, even down to the frustrations of that marine reloading the shot gun the wrong way! (H2 A phantom vibes) This definitely doesn't feel like a passion project, more of a collection of ideas that got mixed up too quickly and too roughly to "Enter a new era... again" :(

I feel like saying that CER is “playstion coded” is the biggest burn you could ever give to this game

Keyes sounds like he’s almost out of breath every time he talks. It really made me wish they’d somehow got the og actor back

This was the one review I actually wanted for this remake. Thanks laper. You're a real one

Cortana as Jerma is killing me

15:30 What's insane to me about the forerunner architecture in this remake is that they already showed us with Halo 2 anniversary that they can modernize it while being authentic to the original design.

Halo CE, 2, 3, ODST and Reach, are the only games that have been made in the Halo series as far as I’m concerned.
