This one is actually my favorite because the maps seem more open in general and the pacing feels better. 1 and 2 had those moments that were frustrating for the average player and these were badly designed in many cases because it was all about trial and error sort of situations without understanding the game logic beforehand like that bomb defusal on the bridge in sf2 for example.

Because of your videos, I have been going back to play these games in order for myself on my PS3 for the past few months now and I'm close to beating Syphon Filter 2. So thank you for that.

That being said, I can confirm that if you shoot the Flack Jacket enemies enough with other guns besides the shotgun in the previous games you will eventually break through their armor.

In fact, through some testing, I have found that sub machine, particularly the hidden ones that you can find throughout the areas in the first game, absolutely shred right through their armor like butter.

I love Syphon Filter series, so much stealth action and fun levels.

This is the first SF that i've played and it's the most beloved to me, beyond the flaws.
I love the shooting in Tokyo, and the level in Apartheid South Africa.

Great retrospective, I really like the Syphon Filter series.

21:12 this music invokes so many good memories about the game and as usual the music themes in this game is still top notch. I played the heck of this game especially the mini games. Thank you for the review.

It still has the taser and its animation.. instant. 5/5 😂

I am replaying these games now on ps5 boy o boy the first game controls are tuff I remember these games as a kid and man I am glad we got analog sticks

This is basically my childhood, along with FF9, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Chrono Cross

didn't play this game until 2006 and that was jumping back after that cliffhanger of teresa. i agree with you man the mini games were an awesome addition.

this paved the way & gave the blueprint for future games like (spintercell) to exist

A fantastic piece on an old favorite Sony franchise my friend, very enjoyable! I still remember playing a demo for the first game in the series & I was blown away by the immersion & game-play, I have the entire series for the PS1 & PS2 in my library of love.

I think the difficulty level was just right. Levels were typically smaller than those of Tomb Raider, and there was more focus on combat and sneaking, than jumping between platforms.

The game was very challenging, but really rewarded skill and caution.

Great video. My family actually had an advanced copy we got in late  September 2001 with the awesome original art and wondering why ours looked different from other people's copies at the time. Too be honest syphon filter 2, dark mirror and 1 are my faves. Thank you for these retrospectives on such a great series!

Great video man! I just finished Syphon Filter 3 since it's on PS Plus now and really enjoyed it! Though I do have to say I preferred the other 2, with 2 currently being my favourite.

I also enjoyed your video about 2 being a perfect sequel, good stuff mate! I hope they add Omega Strain on PS Plus sometime soon, excited to see what the next generation of Syphon Filter looked / played like :)

In some aspects this is my favourite episode, so I love it :)

I'm playing through this for the first time, and I've noticed it's more straightforward. This reminds me of how Turok 3 was less open-ended and more linear than its predecessors. I still enjoyed it, and I'm enjoying my time with SF 3.

I would really love a remake of the trilogy. I wouldnt change anything for the first two, but I would fix the things you did mention about three. Remove the hand hold gameplay, and add more suspense.

You were able to dump enough ammo to kill flack jacket enemies in the first 2 entries as well. Awesome video series, finally SF is getting at least some of that very well deserved love ;)
