My first hobby grade RC car was a Tamiya Rough Rider also on the SRB chassis. I absolutely loved it. It was when it first came out around 1980. If you don’t know already (and you probably do) that weird little box in front was meant to house the receiver, the shelf where you have your receiver is was meant to house the receiver battery box, in the middle were the steering servo and the servo for the mechanical speed control and the battery area was sized perfectly for a 6v nicad or a 7.2v nicad “hump” battery pack. My Rough Rider ran for about 15 minutes on the 6v nicad and, compared to the Radio Shack specials out at the time, it was blazingly fast. As you noted, it is incredibly heavy and the dampers are more for looks than function, but I still loved the thing and ran it till it was unrepairable. Your video brings back memories. I already have a rerelease Rough Rider (Buggy Champ) and I am thinking of getting the whole set now, which means a Ford F-150 like yours (the color on yours is awesome, by the way) and a Sand Scorcher. Money is a bit tight now though, so I will have to wait.

You're so lucky having Mrs. Poor Boys painting all your shells.. Looks absolutely incredible! Looking forward to building mine!

The running video and image quality is out of this world at the end Fil. Just awesome. HYPED!

Very cool car. The credits go to your wife😉. Great paintjob.👍
It looks good out on the forest trail.
Thanks for showing and have a great weekend Fil.

I have to say that the Ford F-150 on the SRB chassis is one of the best looking RC's ever, with that chassis and suspension, along with the pickup truck body, it just looks right, actually pretty realistic. And Mrs Poor Boys has done a brilliant job of the paint, she deserves a medal!!

Another fantastic video Fil 👏🏻👏🏻
The last video sequence brought back many fond memories of my early teenage years.
The Tamiya F150 was my very first brand new RC car.
It was a Christmas present from my parents.
Good times.... ♥️

What a beauty!
I love how the build is old but totally different than today's RCs!

She did a fantastic job on the paint !!

I loved building mine such a great nostalgic experience.

This is one of my favorite videos of yours Fil, amazing job!  I especially like your cinematic running video through the bush at the end mate, you were def channeling Matteo, again, amazing job Fil!  When a video makes you want to go out and buy the kit you know its a good one!

IT.S  VERY COOL ❤❤👍👑🤩😎🥰👏❤😇🤜🤛

It looks fantastic! I use the E6000 now for glueing in part like that. It grips great, doesn't react with paint or chrome parts and stay flexible. You still have to be care to not get it on places you shouldn't but I prefer it for stuff like wipers and license plates that tend to pop off with other glues.

Great job! I'm building it now.... I need that 2026 SRC banner!

That was beautiful that running video buddy at the end it was Matteo ish🤔 but in a slow and steady pace! Beautiful truck! Absolutely gorgeous and a lovely dose of nostalgia❤Great vid and totally right Fil the build experience is priceless! Cheers buddy 😉👍

Fil : It's not meant to be fast; Tomley RC : Hold my beer 😅Excellent video Fil. The running in the woods part is incredible, music and shots, well done. Obviously the painted body is great, the color, wow and it must be even better in real life. Yeah these cars are eye catcher 🤩

I really enjoyed this vid fil, thank you !

Awesome video with the running at the end in the woods. Very well done and kudos to Mrs. PoorBoysRC for the paint work.

I never had a metal Tamiya kit. That came out fantastic! I love Ford pick-ups, and that kit looks epic

Great camera work.....really enjoyed the run footage.....one of my favorite trucks and my first hobby grade RC I bought as a kid....brings back allot of great memories...Thanks
