You know that you are old when you can pull out 80% of these songs from your racks of physical albums. I was born in the '50s and got to hear these songs in real time.
It’s interesting to see the evolution of the music of the time. The early 60s stuff that sounds rooted in the 50s. Then the clear change as British Invasion and Motown evolved.
Great video, I grew up in this great music era the 60's. The video took me back in time. Thanks Harri, for sharing it! It brought back some great memories!👍👍
Harri this was so great for you to do a complete review of the music in the 60s. This was my Generation - THE 60s and again a million thanks Harri. So many great memories. Long live the 60s music decade.👍❤😃😀😄
I remember in 1982 when I was around 12 me and some girls went to another girl's house after school and she was listening to "Heard it Through the Grapevine" and we all started dancing. Now I see she was listening to a 15-year-old song! I really thought it came out in 1982!
As someone who was a teenager and in my early 20's during the 60's I remember all but 2 of these songs and can agree that they all can be rated the top song of the month although I personally may have a different favorite from some months. I've discovered just now that the only two songs I'm not familiar with are both from the same group: Cliff Richards and the Shadows, an English group which was apparently very popular in England. But upon researching Billboard's top ten from January 1962 and March 1963 I couldn't find either song listed. Since Billboard is an American rating system that explains why I'm unfamiliar with the group as those 2 songs were probably played a lot less here. Billboard ranks "The Twist" by Chubby Checker and later in the month "Duke of Earl" by Gene Chandler as the top songs of the month for Jan. '62 and 3 songs that reached #1 in March '63; "Walk Like a Man" by The Four Seasons; "Our Day Will Come" by Ruby and the Romantics; and "The End of the World" by Skeeter Davis, all of which I'm very familiar with. If you are unfamiliar with any of those, you may want to give them a whirl.
