KYOTO CITY SUBWAY Karasuma Line / Series 20
The Kyoto City Subway Series 20, which debuted in the spring of 2022, is the first new train on the Karasuma Line in 40 years. Its design seems somewhat inspired by Tokyo Metro, with interior features such as glass partitions and connecting doors reminiscent of the Tokyo Metro. However, it incorporates Japanese elements in places, such as the seat patterns and the gold decorations on the nail covers, creating a distinctly Kyoto feel.
The VVVF inverter uses the same Mitsubishi SiC-applied IGBT-VVVF as the updated Series 10 trains, resulting in a very quiet running sound, similar to the updated Series 10 trains. Despite being a new train, it seems to lose regenerative braking before stopping, and doesn't appear to support pure electric braking.
