I made this video to show what life really feels like as a 23-year-old salaryman in Tokyo.

Not the glossy version.
The real one — the long commutes, the pointless meetings, the 12-hour days, and the quiet walks through Shibuya when I’m too tired to think.

Most of my exhaustion doesn’t come from work itself, but from pretending I’m okay in a system that never sleeps.

These videos are my small escape.
A place to breathe, reflect, and document how I’m surviving one day at a time — with a ¥657 dinner, a bench in Yoyogi Park, and a little hope.

A huge part of your hard time comes from the Japanese work culture for sure. Still, this being your first job, there are so many adjustments to go through for the first time: office politics, the manager’s style, the exhaustion of working long hours, the novelty of the tasks and overall shock of stepping into adult life. So have faith in the fact that you will toughen up and it will become a little less horrible.

I'm not from Japan but I fly to Tokyo very often for work, I know that it can be very difficult and I feel for you. But I also can see that this job really does not bring you happiness, happiness is the most important thing!! and clearly you have much bigger dreams, so I wish you all the courage to follow them. I think that you made a very good decision making this youtube channel, I hope that the people's mental support and the channel's financial support will help you break out of this job and follow your passion! Sometimes, as I have never been to Japan, these videos are very interesting. But after watching how hard you work, and the struggling you salarymen do, I start getting exhausted too. The repetitiveness and single-minded survival many of you live is depressing and numbing. I feel so bad for those of you who just keep pushing on with no end goal in sight, except to survive one more day. Blessings to you, from my heart. 💗💗

Hey man, you take it one day at a time, even you taking the effort to make these videos and contemplate your situation is a way to process the stress and relieve it. You're doing the best you can and that will be enough. As tough as it may seem you are putting more into savings than most people here in America can every month. That will build up one day and afford you the ability to seek a new place to find employment or change up your situation and that will be a result of no one but your own determination and resolve. You've got this man. Take every victory you can celebrate.

Salaryman Fact 4: A lot of job positions are redundant and/or have too many employees occupying the role, which, in turn, creates more inefficiencies and major breakdowns in communication, thus creating endless mistakes, and... you guessed it, creates more inefficiencies.
