The way it was presented in the beginning that the car developed 'an issue' so testing and filming had to stop, I thought perhaps the gear box fell out or the batteries caught fire or something..😂😂😂

As a Chinese EV fan, I really appreciate this type of reviews. It is always good to know what may be not for you about a car. Take the B5 for example, it only fits in the category of off-roading but virtually no towing capacity, so if you aren’t a solely off-roading enthusiast and looking for an all-rounder, don’t pick this car.

Product reviews in general only give you the idea when the tested products being new or near new, and only for the tested units themselves. Long time reviews do exist, but they can be sometimes not long enough or too lucky to not show certain issues. A review that reveals a problem not only benefits the potential buyers but the manufacturers to make improvements.

Paul did the same when he first reviewed BYD shark, a matter of facts did it twice to prove his point when people challenged his opinion. A few days ago he told channel 10 news that Shark would be the only car he’d buy 😂

I did take it for 2 test rides, the b5 L and the b5.. if I would select one it would be the b5 without the hydraulic suspension as i did find it floating and very busy. The simple B5 is better drive.

CarExpert's own review of the Denza B5 published on its website on 22 Feb 26 is the complete opposite of what is said in this video. 'Outstanding value', 'ride comfort is plush', 'it isn't at all wallowy or floppy in corners' etc. are all statements said in the written review.

It's pretty wild the difference between the 2 reviews given that they're from the same publication.

I already knew this review would be bad even though every other review I've watched was reasonably positive.

Please do the same review with the NORMAL B5 ...

Let me first try to address issues raised by Paul in an objective manner. Disclaimer I own a B5 Leopard. Denza was negligent in not providing a car fit for Paul to objectively test. They should have amongst others, provided him a car with the firmware upgraded to V1.1 which was released 2 to 3 weeks ago which addresses some of the issues raised. a) ADAS no longer beeps as significantly as before b) the ride in comfort while still wallowy, firmed up in sports (though I believe they have a few ways to go) c) in regards to lane keep assist, it will probably be addressed in future OTA update. However, for Paul, to pick on the plate protection coming loose and to make it like it’s in every B5 I think it’s totally unfair when he clearly knows that the test car has been off-roaded with some damage as he pointed out with the sidestep. When you take a car off road and esp tested by a motor journalist, you expect some sort of damage. Denza however, should have inspected it before releasing the car to Paul. Clearly, there are issues with both parties. Hopefully, I presented a balance opinion. However, if one is a Chinese car hater, this ain’t going to sway your views but if you are thinking of buying a B5, I suggest you test it yourself. It is a fine car and there are numerous (more than necessary) parameters, you can change .. some in re to suspension settings, performance etc. btw, if you are thinking of towing a caravan, I would not buy this car.

Okay, lots of comments about this car being flogged by previous testers and there's nothing wrong with that, they're supposed to be testing the car to see if it can do what the company claims it can do.

But it's on the company to make sure the car is roadworthy and not damaged before giving to another tester, they can't just keep passing it around without checking it and then blame previous testers when it all goes pear shaped.

This is on BYD (or it's local distributor at least), not the testers.
