there are good reasons why this style of teaching was abandoned, and good reasons why it should survive

Thank you these videos. Ironically, at 47 I figured it was time to actually learn  everything I've never learned. I bought some books on Sight-Size, Cast Drawing, Barque Drawing Course & plates, + several Atelier books (2 new - 2019 books from Juliette Aristides).
Ideally, I'd be at a Academy, Studio or Atelier but, since I don't, these videos are extremely beneficial of explaining a few things the books may or may not cover. Overall, like drawing methods from sight-size, triangulate, ect., these videos are another tool for learning & mastering art. Real art in my opinion.
I find it very encouraging that these methods of drawing are making a comeback along with some modern tips, from great artists such as Loomis & Reilly as examples.
I understand that a simple thank you might do but, sometimes you find videos like these that have a great effect on those wanting to learn. Since you took the time to make these videos, I thought the least I could do was explain how much they mean to me & many others, I'm sure.
Thanks again

Fantastic series

super awesome thanks !

Really informative. THANKS!

Thank you so much for this. YouTube is full of art tutorials- and 90% of them are sketching anime/manga style art in fantasy environments!
It is a joy to find traditional training information showing the learning process of the masters I’d go so far as to say these methods are vital in order to maintain some high standard in the future.

you are an angel

What an amazing course! I took some similar lessons from a young couple in Montana who taught the same method but sadly they had to move back to Italy because of Covid and had to close the studio. I’m curious, they were trained in Florence and remind me greatly of you and Bargue

Thanks for sharing this video, I found it really interesting.

Nobody had  thought  of systematizing the  lesson back then !🤔🤔🤔😱

My type of lady :) also good info

Out with the old plates. Make new ones & casts

Any thoughts on the "triangulation method" as being a more precise method vs. comparative & sight-size methos, in modern times. Per my reading, it suggests you know all 3 methods (along with a few others), but again, triangulation is the most exacting drawing method.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Can anyone find any evidence for sight size drawing in even the Nineteenth Century? I'm guessing its a 20th century idea. Charles Bargue is also a very LATE Nineteenth Century drawing course, compare it to say the Venetian prints of Palma il Giovane designed for teaching amateurs in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century in Italy (you can google some of these) they are not drawn in a way that makes them SLAVES to directional lines, shadow shapes etc... muscular convexity and graceful contour are rather the dominant feature. We need to historically recognize not just the continuity with the Old Masters (early-modern artists) here but also the DIFFERENCE.

In XIX century was founded in Lisbon,Portugal, Royal National Academy. Present days is changed to National Academy of Fine Arts, but the directors are continues, to different method of Art teaching. Monopolised through Modernism, the Realism have disappeared in Art teaching here in my country. Is a great loss.

you know what would be awesome is if they taught all these things in kindergarten - 12th grade, building throughout the years in their one hour daily class, so by the time they graduated high school would be able to be artists and entrepreneurs right out of high school... too bad im 26 and most of my life was wasted bc no one did that

8:57 who is that artist, sorry for repeating the same question... I can't hear it well - Chan Angel or (?) ....

I heard learning Bargue method hinders the ability to draw from imagination?

1:57 who is that artist ?

This video was very informative, I just wished that you would speak slower and more natural
