I don’t think I’d be able to carry on living if my grandma died in such a horrific way! I can’t imagine how scared and helpless she must have felt. Rest in peace Gladys

Respect for the fight shown by the victim. We rarely acknowledge quite how hard these people, usually out-armed and out-weighted, manage to fight. Such a strong woman.

Why look to reduce the penalties for such an horrendous crime when the perpetrator has admitted their guilt. It's disgusting

@ianpeddle6818 2 months ago

I think if someone did this to my grandmother I would ensure I never rested until the culprit was punished and ended up dieing painfully - what kind of person do you have to be to do that to a helpless old lady

@catgladwell5684 3 months ago

Why didn't Victim Support visit Gladys after the first attack to offer her advice and practical security measures? The police should have organised that for such a vulnerable person.

Anyone who murders women and children should never be released back into society.

22 years what a joke our justice system is abhorrent

@DominationtoAbomination 2 months ago

Shame on our justice system if ppl like this get a chance after 22yrs to commit similar offences...zero tolerance on these kind of crimes 4 me..whole life orders should be mandatory

@JeffsWig 3 months ago

22yrs is a fkn joke. I'm so sick of our so called justice system. It's not setup for the victims. It only cares about the perps and their needs. Time to change it to deliver actual justice and let's bring back the noose too. He should have swung!

How on earth could it happen again? If that happened to a member of my family, the house would be like fort Knox. Burglar Alarm, panic button, new locks ..everything

I remember this happening because I lived on the estate during the time. It was an horrendous crime. Very scary for the community especially because there is a high proportion of elderly bungalows and retirement homes clustered on the estate.

I don’t see what it achieved in the long run because he’s due out this year and is clearly a dangerous man.

Absolutely heartbreaking 💔 😢

He was 22. He got 22 year's. He could be out aged 44 with 43 more years to live to get to his victims age.
Its a joke sentence.
Makes you wish we still had the death penalty

Who ever done this awful crime had better watch their back as karma will come back in spades for them

I think should be a law when you turn 18 to have dna and finger prints taken..and even if you enter a new country

@juju1957k 3 weeks ago

Who cares why he did it ..he admitted it ...just throw the key away ..and it's a joke to say life sentence of 22 year he won't be 50 when he gets out .,murderers should be in for their whole life ..stop locking up thieves ect to make room for killers we don't want them walking among normal people 😮
