For the last  six months I have been watching many videos, I ended up  more confused than when I first started watching them , until I came across your video, you explained very well that I was able to understand  when and how to use  the 5% rule right away, I'm testing here in Idaho very soon, this is definitely a big help, thank you so much.

Great instructional video. I teach NEC Code classes in Texas. I have found that the easiest way to teach the concept of 1-phase ranges on a 3-phase system is to simply use the divide by 3 then times 2 method. The students seem to pick it up faster. Similar to the example in the NEC Annex.
(35) 12 KW 1-phase ranges on a 3-phase service example:
35÷3=11.66, so since you cannot have .66 of a range, you must round up to 12. Then multiply 12 x 2 = 24
(24) 12 KW ranges per Table 220.55 = 39 KW.
39 KW ÷ 2 = 19.5 KW per phase demand.
The 3-phase equivalent demand per phase would be 19.5 KW X 3 = 58.5 KW or 58,500 VA.
3-phase load in amps for a 120/208v service is 58,500 ÷ 208 x 1.732 = 162.38 amps.
Any method that gets to the correct answer is the right method, but they seem to grasp this method quicker. But then there are always those that need something different in order to grasp the concept. Once they do, they get it. Kind of like teaching the concept of a 3- way switch loop. It just suddenly clicks.
Thanks for the videos.

Excellent!

Thanks. Easy to understand

The 3 phase calculations at the end are not correct. At the end you will need to divide this by 2 to get the "va" per phase and then multiply by 3 to get the total "va" of all 3 phases. Sorry for this.

For the last question, I looked at Column C for 51-60 ranges.
It says to use 25kW + 3/4kW for each range.
I multiplied .75 by 60 than added 25kW.
That equals 70kW
Than I multiplied by 3 and divided by 2 for the answer 105.
Was I wrong to do that?
Thanks.

for the last question the answer is 90.75 sir i think you had it to used 14 kw not 15 kw but you did explain pretty good thank you

Why did u quit putting out the videos my man?

My only question is where can I get your powerpoint slides for this presentation?

great video , however at the 9:31 mark you lost me with the 1.15 X 20kw . I would have use 1.20 X 20kw.  I'll watch it again to see if i missed something.

I could of swore that 4 ×12000=48000.... not 56000

Sir thanks for share your time and knowledge with us, I would like to ask you how did you get 49.5 KW on this question, What is the feeder demand for (30) 14 KW?.
This is what I’m getting from the table 220.55 columns C, 26-30 ranges
(15 KW + 1 KW for each range ).
So my calculation was
30 ranges x 1 = 30 + 15 = 45 KW.
Please let me know if I’m wrong.
