The man is Iconoclast, and his passing has left an enormous void . 😢

I'm 71 years old now, Christopher Hitchens died in 2011, I still miss him.

I'm an ex-heroin addict too. And I was repeatedly told by ex addicts and christians that I wouldn't be able to stop without god. That just pissed me off and made me want to use more cuz,,, you know F@@K THEM! but I'm over 10yrs sober now and didn't need god to do it.

The fact 100's of thousands are being murdered for a religious ideology is lunacy and one thats gone on far to long

Mr. Lambert.... keep kicking ass and taking names. Facts matter. Thank you for all you do my friend.

Chill video!  I didn't learn who Christopher was until after my deconversion, but his books helped me so much!

I found Christopher in 2017.

I am so glad I live in an age and place where I could discover that I wasn't alone in my faith struggles by doing nothing more than watching videos ....for free ....in my home.... and in private without.... the fear of social shunning from my religious family for attending lectures or reading books.

We got here. We made it this far.

We enlightened ourselves.

We fought and died, laughed and lived, and made it this far...... ourselves.

The credit belongs where it originated.....human solidarity.

To attribute it to imaginary invisible intangible incompetent entities is....... degrading.

It’s incredibly important that content creators like yourself promulgate the message of great ambassadors of intellectual truth like Christopher who pushed back against the same religious-backed establishment of society for thousands of years. Thank you for your coverage of this great man. I wish you all the luck to garner more and more followers in the pursuit of truth.

Spread the word .... yes it is true that we don't know everything ... as we learn we realise we know very little, the religious know even less becase they neglected to learn and believed that they know everything.  I wish that I had even a 100th of the eloquence of Christopher Hitchens.Thank you for revisiting his legacy to us, giving us inspiration to rational and coherent thought.

Really grateful to the ones resurrecting previous gems. This is how you spread knowledge.

Missing one of the greatest erudite Ch.Chitchens.😢...and his sense of humour. His debates where always  entertaining,  funny, masterpiece as a  his retoric abilitys and inteligence .

Christopher Hitchens voice still echoes and will forever echoe the most eloquent, sensible, sharp, and clear voice about all the non-sense religions placate in the world. He was a true treasure to be hold and so deply missed.

Hitch also famously said “The gods that we’ve made are exactly the kind of gods you’d expect to be made by a species half a chromosome away from the chimpanzee.”

Also, Ricky Gervais points it out the best: “Arrogance is asking a god who wouldn’t stop The Holocaust to find your car keys.”

And Heinrich Heine says (Which Hitch at some point quoted as well) : “In dark ages people are best guided by religion; as in a pitch black night a blind man is the best guide. He knows the roads and paths better than a man who can see. As daylight comes, however, it is foolish to use blind old man as guides.”

Epicurus and Anaximander understood the world millennia ago, when Anaximander suggested “apeiron” and Epicurus challenged the idea of a cosmic creator comic book figure:
“Is god willing to prevent evil yet unable to?
Then he is impotent.
Is he able yet unwilling?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him god?”

Like it or not, and accept it or not (both utterly itrelevant), the universe doesn’t need a creator/designer/“watchmaker” and doesn’t have one.
It is evident everywhere, from the laws of thermodynamics and physics overall, to the innately and profoundly chaotic property of “nature”/cosmos, to the immeasurable wastefulness of “mother nature”, not to mention its ontological cruelty and indifference (watch any wildlife documentary to remind yourself of the realities of the actual reality we happen to be but part of), and the reality of human cognition having survived not to understand the world but to survive the wild and go through the day safe and sound, to find and gather resources and to reproduce.

We are literally a species of greater primates, with our closest evolutionary relatives being the bonobo and the chimp  (Pan troglodytes), with whom we share about 98.7 to 99% of our DNA. They split branches about 6 to 7 million years ago. Gorillas are more distant relatives belonging to a different genus, with whom we had a common ancestor about 8 to 10 million years ago.

Do yourselves and others in your lives a favour and READ!

Read and watch/listen to Charles Darwin, Richard Dawkins, Lawrence Krauss, Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett, Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan and Brian Cox for a start at educating yourselves, and losten to their online debates and lectures to broaden your understanding and horizons.

As for the myth of Judaism, its formation as a distinct religion roughly began around 1200 to 600 BCE, some time in the Late Bronze Age or early Iron Age in the Levant. Evidence based timeline shows 1200 to 1000 BCE, pertaining to the emergence of early Israelite culture in the central highlands of Canaan. Archaeology shows a distinct population pattern but not yet clear monotheism by then.

Kingdoms of Israel and Judah appear around 1000 to 722 BCE. Religion appears henotheistic (worship of one fairy father figure, with others acknowledged). Assyrians conquer Israel in 722 BCE. Babylonians destroy Jerusalem in 586 BCE. The First Temple gets destroyed by the Neo Babylonian Empire. This exile period is critical, as consolidation of texts and stronger move toward exclusive monotheism takes place. From 539 BCE onward, they enter the Persian period under the Achaemenid Empire. Their temple gets rebuilt. Judaism as structured, text based monotheism becomes clearer. Core Hebrew Bible texts likely compiled or redacted between 700 to 400 BCE. So cultural roots take shape around 1200 BCE. It becomes a distinct monotheistic religion in around 600 to 500 BCE, and only gets fully developed as rabbinic Judaism after 70 CE.

The great Christopher Hitchens. One of my few heroes.

I discovered Hitchens several years ago. I truly appreciate your revival of some of his greatest arguments. His way with words, intelligence and honesty made him one of a kind. He’s greatly missed, but thankfully his words can live on! Thank you!

I will never get tired of listening to Christopher Hitchens. I really hope others learn to enjoy his words. He had a wonderful way with words😊 and I love words ❤️ and always love Christopher Hitchens 🧚‍♂️and words 😇😇😇lol 🦋 great channel 🫶

Loving your takes. To see someone on the journey that I am on, and have been for years and tried to pass on to my children, is wonderful. Keep this up.  I’ve read most of his works, absorbed them, and formed my opinions. Having also read the bible, the qu’ran and hadith, and various other religious works. I see the poetry within some texts. Nothing compares to the poetry of reality (copyright R Dawkins). The humanocentric fallacy is such, and only that. Wake up, all, and realise that ‘god is not great’. That there is nothing greater than having the scales fall from one’s eyes. The clarity with which we view everything without religion is astounding. A true revelation, in every sense.

How's your day? I hope it's going well. Thank you for your content

Love Christopher Hitchins! Thanx for this!

It’s a great feat that our  ancestors’ pattern seeking in both of its kinds (type 1 category error which was evidently perfectly well important as well as the type 2) allowed them to survive the wild so we could be here in the first place and establish civilisation as an entire enterprise. It (pattern seeking) has done its job well. Now it’s long due that we outgrow it and fully adopt reason, rationality and science.
