“But if the while I think on thee dear friend, all losses are restored and sorrows end.” - Shakespeare sonnet Dedicated to a man I admired profoundly, and think of everyday, Hitch I miss you. 🥃🥃
One minute in and Hitch has already cut straight to the heart of the problem. "For thousands of years... Sam and I would've been having [this conversation] at the risk of our lives. Religion comes to us now in this smiley face, ingratiating way... but you have no right to forget how it behaved when it was strong"
I love it when a fundamentalist asks what they think will be a difficult question, and Christopher beats them to an intellectual pulp. The man was so intelligent, well read, well spoken and witty. I love watching his debates on UTube and I miss him
I don't recall a single debate where his opponent formulated a remotely cogent response. Hitchens highlighted and exposed the insanity of religion in all its forms.
Lots of people on here saying they miss him. There's no need to miss him. He wrote amusingly and sharply for decades. Most good antiquarian bookshops have half a shelf of him. Some of his opinions and views left me cold and some made me cross. Some I agreed with. Some of my own were formed in part by his argument. But it's all out there. Hitchens was on the printed page before there was YouTube.
Such an intelligent, articulate, witty man who very much hit the nail on the head exposing the corrupt immoral church and faith for what they are in such an engaging way..sadly missed
