41:35 the reason for the 3 1/2 digits is because when the meters first came out, the displays were slightly cheaper to have three full size digits and one extra digit that only displays one or blank

You can see modern multimeters have dropped this convention and just have four digits

Pretty sure this is just left over from the early days of digital micrometers and was just continued on because the manufacturing is very well-known and super cheap
