Respectfully, there were a lot of great musicians and vocalists in this show, but I feel that Tool is one of the few bands in the same league as Black Sabbath when it comes to their creativity, authenticity and true artistry. They didn't limit themselves to what was popular, highly marketable or safe. (That's how truly unique new music and genres are created.)
They are one of the very few remnants of progressive rock almost single handedly taking it into the new millenium. First song I heard was sober and I just knew I had to hear more of this band. Such talent and man when they cover a song, it keeps its core identity, but becomes a tool song too. I had few bands that come from their era or later that I found worthy of giving my time too.
Freaking incredible footage. Thank you so much for this. 20 minutes of Maynard and Carey in clear daylight is really something special. I've been a fan for 30 years and I've never seen anything like this. Thank you!
Hand of Doom was The perfect Black Sabbath song for Tool and Maynard was really enjoying himself as was Danny Adam and Justin there in a league of their own
Perfect Sabbath cover choice for them. This shows clearly that they don't need the epic light/video/laser show that they have for their own concerts in order to be "Tool". The amazing and unique visuals that are synonymous with their live shows are indeed the best in the biz and something to behold, but it's really the actual live performance of their meticulously built compositions that make them particularly special. This video proves it. Underneath everything, Tool are not too different now from when I saw them in 1994 on Landsdown street in Boston, MA. I'm so happy that they did this.
