▶ Seoraksan: Allowed for Only 15 Days
720,000 hikers visit Seoraksan in the single month of October! From the very beginning, the hiking trails are packed with people gathering to see the autumn foliage of Seoraksan, hailed as the best in Korea. Passing through the mountain-red Cheonbuldong Valley and Heullimgol, and the Dinosaur Ridge resembling the winding spine of a dinosaur, all the way to Daecheongbong Peak, the summit at 1,707.9 meters above sea level! Seoraksan is known for its rugged and treacherous terrain, requiring full preparation before the climb. Despite this, what is the charm of this "bad boy" Seoraksan that attracts hundreds of thousands of hikers every year?
▶ Those who make Seoraksan shine even brighter: The 119 Mountain Rescue Team, responsible for safety with bare hands!
In 2014 alone, there were 314 mountain accidents on Seoraksan! There have been a staggering 38 fatal accidents in the last three years alone. 119 Mountain Rescue Team members appear at accident scenes anytime, anywhere. Emergency treatment is a given, and they unhesitatingly transform into human stretchers by carrying patients unable to walk on their backs. On rugged mountain paths, these rescuers are prepared to sacrifice their own lives for the sake of the patients. We take a look into their heart-pounding daily lives.
▶ Protect the Golden Hour of Rescue!
A desperate struggle to find a missing photographer! Eight days ago, a missing person report was filed with the Mountain Rescue Team. The photographer lost contact after going out to photograph a waterfall. To find him, not only helicopters but also rescue dogs have been mobilized. Even civilian mountain rescue team members have put their livelihoods aside to join the search for the missing person. With all personnel mobilized, we visit the scene where the largest search operation in the history of the Mountain Rescue Team is taking place.
