AI slop. No mention of High Brow Cat, who has produced the highest earnings of any stallion across all disciplines at almost $100 million, beating even Dash For Cash by many tens of millions. The photos don’t match all of the horses they discuss. The offspring of each horse they showcase are not the most notable. I could name a dozen or more other horses who have had just as profound impact on the breed as some of the ones listed here.

Oh, and by the way, Sugar Bars doesn’t have a drop of Leo in his bloodlines.

I had an AQHA mare that was very well bred. Three Bars, Rocket Bar. Man O War, War Admiral, to name a few, crossed on the Barrel Champion Maudies Joak, a half brother to Leo, thru Joe Reed II, sired by Joak. Her foals (4) that I had were average. However, when Maudies was crossed on my foundation ApHC mare, complete with rat mane and tail, those were (4) some of the best built, halter, barrel and working horses. Each one was capable of any event in the show pen, then go rope and work the ranch the next day, all day. Maudies was a bay and the mare was a near lepoard in color. They produced a carmel bay, near leopard bay, seal bay and a champagne spotted. In 45 years of breeding that was the best cross of any stock type foals I produced.
How I miss those from that cross.

Old foundation blood from any breed tends to consistently produce a better all around horse than the fads that come and go. The female tail line and grandparents are the important ones to look at. Also, too many outcrosses and inbreeding does not produce great foals. Inbreeding is what created Impressive. Every line goes back to Three Bars. The other trick, especially when pairing different breeds is an honest answer to the question, " does the conformation of the sire complement that of the mare?". If the answer is no, find a different match. You cant breed off paper alone.

Pathetic photos having nothing to do with Quarter Horses seriously ruins and dishonors the QH story...

Three Bars horses seemed to have really great minds. We bred The three bars mare to Go man Go and got a roan filly that was quick but was hard to keep sound.
