‪@MichaelJackson‬
In this Michael Jackson Super Bowl XXVII halftime show reaction, we’re revisiting the 1993 performance that completely changed what a Super Bowl halftime show could be. On January 31, 1993, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, Jackson took the stage for a roughly 13-minute set during Super Bowl XXVII, broadcast on NBC.

The show did something no halftime had done before: TV ratings actually went UP during halftime instead of dropping. Estimates put the U.S. audience in the 125–133 million range, and it’s widely credited as the moment the NFL realized the halftime show could be a true global entertainment event, not just a break in the game.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO
We are reacting to the Super Bowl XXVII Halftime Show starring Michael Jackson and breaking down what made this performance so iconic. In this reaction, we talk about:
• Setlist & flow – from high-energy openers like “Jam” into “Billie Jean,” “Black or White,” and the massive, global-feeling finale with “We Are the World” and “Heal the World.”
• Staging & production – multiple jumbo screens, the dramatic “standing still” entrance, explosive crowd card-stunt visuals, and the children circling the globe prop at the end.
• Vocals, dancing & band – how tight the choreography is, the band hits, and the way MJ controls a stadium-sized crowd like it’s a small room.
• Cultural impact – how this set pushed album sales for Dangerous, became one of the most-watched musical broadcasts in U.S. history, and set the template for every superstar halftime show that came after.

If you love legendary live performances, huge crowds, and MJ at the peak of his powers, this show is essential viewing.
