In the remote borderlands of northern China lives one of the country's most unusual officially recognised ethnic minorities - the Russians.
In this video, I travel through Inner Mongolia in search of the descendants of Russian settlers who crossed the border more than a century ago. Along the way, I explore the history of these communities and meet members actual people from the Russian minority, trying to find out what remains of their Russian heritage today.
What does it mean to be Russian in China? Do people here still speak Russian? And how much of the culture brought here by their ancestors has survived?
