Im just about to go down this route with my van seems a decent bit of kit

@Heinz76Harald 3 months ago

i love my victron system -----> at home! :D and yes, it was quite a time to get everything right and working. never let me down for 5years by now
BUT, im using Bluetti Powerstations in my camping setups, for obvious reasons =)

@mukkaar 4 months ago

This would be nice product for occasional small time use.

Fantastic system Mark and brilliantly explained. Would love this system, but unfortunately going to do my build with a power station. Would buy one now if funds were available but good luck with selling them, i think they will sell like hot cakes

Getting my cables run will take me the most time.

Very Nice! I did not know that this was available. All in one system certainly have their advantages. The problem is if that box goes down, everything goes down. People make the same argument with using the Eco flow system. It’s amazing when it works.

Love you're setup and the fuse with victron, but my camper van will be electric...
V 2 l makes it easier.
Farizon sv for example. ❤
Thanks for the nice video's 👍

I was going go go for an ecoflow. But this is a chunk cheaper and probably above the bluettie rv

When will someone like Clayton or Eberspacher make something like this that will fit under a single passenger or drivers seat 🤔 would make building a day van some much easier

@xxwookey 6 months ago

Cheers for that. Some nice design features (cable routing, powerpoles), but I do like a separate battery. Surprising that this thing doesn't really save you any money over a Victron setup, just weight, and complexity. (I am somewhat boggled that people put multiplus IIs in their vans. I have one in my house and it's great, but very heavy and very noisy - not sure I'd want one in a van). Didn't know about the piggyback fuses - that is a handy thing for simpler, and reversible integration.
Certainly a lot simpler to install than the entertaining world of separate components and protocols.
The killer feature for Victron is the open source hackbility. Node-red integration and an openembedded linux controller make it unbeatable in my book. Does this thing let you do any of the good stuff like node-red control design, hackable python scripts on dbus, or ssh connection to the controller, or is it just 'proprietary app for your phone, only available via Google's store' style? I realise some people like that but proprietary software means you have no control and no privacy. I don't want that in my house and I don't want it in my van to the extent possible. Victron is a bright light in the wasteland of IoT apps in this regard. I have no idea how well Eberspacher does on this metric?

Trouble with that Zeliax is that it's all in one big square box you have to pay for all at once, with separates you can stash the batteries out of the way somewhere and build the rest of the system flat against a wall or on a floor or where ever it's convenient and you can just add to the system as you learn what you want.

being able to set up individual components to your needs is also really helpful, for example you could set your DC/DC charger to not pull above a set amount of amps to avoid overheating an alternator.

It might end up cheaper, but you have to find space for a heavy square box and if part of it dies you can't pull that part out for repair/replacement while the rest of the system is still useable. Definitely would prefer to have a system with a couple of batteries and a bunch of separate components I think.

I have to respectfully disagree on many accounts here. You’re comparing oranges and zebras in some ways. Apples to apples in others. It’s power- yes - but the interplay in the whole system and how it all ties together is incredibly different. The battery capacity potential is totally different. Victoria is for long term professional build - not the DIY budget. Agreed on that. But it’s just not an honest comparison in my opinion. But great on you for bringing this up and comparing. Cheers and much success to you!

Mark is the zeliox control box compatible with the Clayton? I like the idea of using the app.......not lazy just modern 😂

Interesting, have you looked at the Kartt HUB? It would be a better alternative for DIY builders, I feel, as it's a fraction of the cost, just as easy to wire up, and offers the bonus of flexibility in your battery choice. I found that in my transporter, I needed 460 Ah of 12V power (compared to this, which is 187 Ah equivalent if my maths is right) It runs an induction hob and various other 12v bits and to be properly off-grid for a few days in winter I'd struggle otherwise. I started with Clayton and went over to Victron for that very reason, as the expansion battery add-on ended up being more than the Victron and Fogstar combo. Now looking at the Kartt offerings for next build, and will also take a look at this in more detail. I'd be interested to see how people fare with bigger power needs. I guess that's when you will need separate components or at least more flexibility with battery size?

@RedBatteryHead 5 months ago

Solar doesn't really need a fuse. You're never overpowering max solar. It's a feed in.

@georgiosnikolioudakis995 3 months ago

Why not a Voltdeer 2400Wh for less than 1k if you just need a power bank? I chose Victron because it allows me to throw 19.2KWh of batteries and 4.1KW of solar on my camper.

Interesting product! Is there an option to have a second (mobile) solar panel to the unit? So fixed panels on the roof, but the option to add a mobile set that has a different spec to the roof panels. Usually you'll need 2 different MPPTs if you have 2 sets of panels with very different panels/inputs.
