The WCW cruiserweight division was truly the only thing that WCW did that WWE was unable to compete with.
A genuine gem, and far better than cruiserweights or high flyers of today because they also included submission wrestling with the high flying moves.

Mike Tenay always did a great job laying out a crusierweight match/story for even casual fans.

Hard to believe this match happened almost 30 years ago when you watch Rey Mysterio still going at it in 2025 😮

R I P "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

the WCW cruiserweight division was on 🔥 fire in 1996

11:36 - Funny moment where Dusty and Schiavone get a good laugh after Mike Tenay mentions the "Dragon screw legwhip", they had fun with that one. 😂😂😂

Love Jushin Liger. Hoping WCW uploads his match from the Omni in Atlanta when he beat Flyin Brian Pillman for the Light Heavyweight Championship

In 1995-1996 I think Rey Mysterio was at his most agile and acrobatic and his movements where like a real life spiderman. Jushin Liger early on was good at running the ropes and reminded me of a real life power ranger with how explosive and agile he was.

This was what to watch WCW for. The cruiser weight division was the star of the show. Made me go search out all the luchadores and wrestlers from Japan.

Jushin liger is one of the best wrestlers ever absolutely underrated

WCW always seemed more international to me. It always felt like I was seeing the top wrestlers the world had to offer. Mike Tenay did an awesome job.

Dusty loves the dragon screw leg whip 😂

The cruiserweight made wcw and ecw stand out above wwe during the 90's.

Two Amazing Cruiserweights In Their Day.

Two guys who had more talent between them than half the roster.

And that half the roster would kill to have even a third of the success of either guy.

Rey Mysterio and Jushin Liger in their prime are THE two best highflyers in pro wrestling history. Mysterio and Liger had a lot of similarities- both were amazing talents; both are timeless; both are the two most influential wrestlers of all time by taking highflying moves, high octane moves and fast paced, exciting matches to another level, while still selling great and still having great psychology. They are also two of the best and most natural babyfaces(Along with Ricky Steamboat and Jeff Hardy) and they both have so much honor and are the best sellers wearing masks. also, two of the most respected and beloved wrestlers of all time because of their workrate, longevity, wholesome ways, and both been giving veterans.

Rey Mysterio's best theme! WCW had the best cruiserweights in wrestling. Had the privilege of watching Jushin Thunder Liger not only in this match but in his match against Tyler Breeze in NXT.
