Have a different newish Burns guitars from 1990's early 2000

Hank's first Fender was a 1959 Stratocaster with a C neck NOT a 57 which would have had a V neck. The Burns Cobra is not the same as the Burns Marquee. The headstock is different for a start.

The burns Marvin is a completely different animal to the Cobra they don’t sound or feel anything like each other Barry Gibson went above and beyond with the Marvin

Hanks was a 59 model.

Hank Marvin never played a Burns Cobra!!!! Back in the 1960s Jim Burns and his team designed and built the Burns Marvin - a very different guitar.  Yes, it was designed around the Strat concept but its tone came from a completely different trem unit and UK wound pivckups.  I personally owned a couple of these guitars back in the 1970s as well as Strats and loved those early Burns instruments.  Burns were taken over by Baldwin in the late '60s and faded from the scene within a few years.  Hank stopped using the Burns guitars when his were stolen in the early '70s.  From that day on he remained a committed Strat player.  In the early 1990s Barry Gibson revived the Burns name as Burns UK and produced custom built replicas of the original Marvins - I had two of these and they were fantastic.  Barry therefore decided to introduce Chinese production versions of the original Marvin and launched these in 2004 to coincide with the Shadows Reunion and Final Tour during which Hank and Bruce Welch each played an example of these guitars for just two numbers at each concert.  I had a couple of these guitars but was disappointed by them - there was something lacking in their feel and tone which I couldn't put my finger on but they lacked the personality of the '90s custom models let alone the original 1960s guitars and I didn't keep mine for more than a few months eacj.  The Burns Marquee and Cobras were Chinese built entry level instruments using Strat style trem units and offer a level of visual similarity to the Marvin guitars but they are most cedrtainly NOT like the guitars Hank and Bruce played in the Shadows either in the 1960s or 2004/5.  Recommend you do your research before putting these videos together!

Nice and well presented video James. I have been playing the music of The Shadows and Hank's modern sound for many years now and it's always appreciated when someone like you puts together video of the instruments that were used by the musicians. Hank used to live close to were I live,  but immigrated to Perth in Australia in 1986 where he now enjoys playing his Gypsy Jazz, a big step away from when he played with The Shadows. Keep up the good work. Best wishes. Vic  🎼🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸

Crank that bison up and give it the gun 😂😂😂😂

Distortion!..on a Shadows guitar..playing Apache with overdrive..Sacrilege..disgusting!

Who are these 2 jokers? That burns is slightly out of tune, and they don’t even know it!  Cliff richard imported a 59 strat for marvin, not a 57. Welch still has it. I still have an original burns marvin, white & tortoiseshell pickguard etc bought new in early 70’s. I liked it at first, but i came to dislike the tremolo action. The sound has a bit more middle than a strat. The marvin had different pickus than the othe burns models. It had rez-o-matic pu’s instead of the usual tri-sonic ones. I have a 57 strat also, it beats the burns into the weeds tbh. Marvin did not use a cobra, they were not in the catalogue then. He just used a marvin, which was stolen! I don’t know why he plays apache with overdrive. But then again, they do not know much by the looks of things. That marvin has a nice scooped out middle tone through a fender twin, & in the hands of a real guitar player.

Ok thats it....I'm not listening further.....bad playing.....

Awful playing....pointless revue.
