The thing is, Scott wanted us to believe FNaF 2 was a sequel until the big reveal. His attempt resulted in a very tangled series of events. I think Scott acidentally created a new set of victims without realising and that's the reasons why they are never mentioned again. They were never meant to exist but Scott messed up.

The main problem with the FNaF franchise is that things that should be taken literally are seen as metaphors and things that should be seen as metaphors are taken literally

The drunk children incident is truly tragic

The DCI (Dissing Children Incident) has always seemed like a strange case to me.

Mangle's radio static sound isn't actually saying anything important. It's a stock sound effect that Scott pulled from a website, same as every other sound effect in the early games. The garbled voice in it wasn't dubbed with these games in mind, and the supposed references to the Bite is just fans hearing what they want to hear.
Similar to how the FNaF1 Night 5 phone call is also just a random stock sound, yet fans erroneously believe it to have an intentional hidden meaning.

THIS! I swear, I've been arguing these exact points for years and almost nobody has wanted to entertain the idea. I truly believe that the concept of the DCI has done huge damage to our perception of the story because people just take it as a fact and have to phone in 5 extra victims in parts of the story where they truly make no sense to exist

I have never believed that the DCI are a thing. It makes absolutely zero sense to introduce 5 new child victims and then never mention them ever again. Every time William's murders are ever mentioned, it's only ever 5 or 6, never anything more, and certainly never 11.

ABSTRACT. That's a great way to describe how I've always interpreted a lot in this franchise. I feel like it's been taken way too literally.
There being another set of 5 kids just makes no sense

The problem is that Afton is implied to have killed more people and we just never hear about it and their deaths remain unimportant. Like the funtimes and their whole existence is to kill, but besides Baby, we have no direct evidence that the others have killed before. And then there's the hallucination tests that may or may not be canon. Even if the DCI was to proven true or false by Scott himself, Afton's kill count will never be known.

What doesnt make sense to me is that Scott's method is to clarify with subsequent games and then move it forward. Why would he invent a second MCI in the prequel? It just confuses people for no reason. It reads to me as an obvious effort to elaborate on what was portrayed in the past game.

the DCI is a product of Scott not thinking things out fully. In trying to make the mystery of "is FNAF 2 a prequel or a sequel", he forgot all the hints that an "old location" insinuates that there was a mystery 3rd pizzeria the Withereds originated from. The DCI was never ment to exist, so it never got brought up (kinda like how BB was made to be an inanimate statue, riffing on the Ronald McDonald statues, but now he's a fully fledged character)


i also have an idea that the Funtime/Molten was ment to be the DCI, with the MCI haunting the Logbook band, but Scott had a midlife crisis or something when he was developing Pizza Sim and didn't want to work on it anymore, opting instead to have the MCI haunt Molten, and the DCI fell into the void with Little Joe/Lally

Tbf, it's even possible that the possessed puppet is giving visual illusions to withered Freddy to get him to go after Afton shortly after the "take cake" mini game events.

So the newly possessed puppet sees their assailant (at night) and gives the criminal-database-tied animatronics a reason to "apprehend" the night guard.

(This one comment took so long to type because I had a flood of so many ideas on how it could happen and details to add lol)

This is underrated even if I don't fully agree with it

I think that the strongest argument in favor of the DCI is this- William Afton is a serial killer

A lot of "pushing the burden" done in regards of objecting the DCI- basically claiming "if the DCI existed, why we don't interact with those victims, unlike the MCI? This doesn't satisfy the narrative"

However, considering that we know that (a) Afton is a serial killer (b) he planned on continue to kill children as seen from the Funtimes designs (c) there is no reason to stop at killing 5 children, the burden should be pushed towards "why shouldn't Afton kill 5 more children?"

I would not claim that the Toys are possesed by the DCI souls. They may have very well didn't left to haunt anything. But in terms of narrative, the DCI does serve a role of showing Afton's depravity as a serial killer, which is an important role to the narrative imo

Why have your animatronics be tied to a criminal database if the MCI hasn't happened yet? Charlie died outside the building, so it can't be because of her

There are a few things you didn't mention:

1. The blood stains. There are 6 pools of blood around the restaurant in Save Them and wet floor signs and mop puddles in the main gameplay. This implies murders happened but William cleaned up after himself.

2. Not all minigames are symbolic. The minigames that give you directions like "Take cake to the children" are symbolic but Save Them is unique since it doesn't tell you what to do and has the entire layout of the Fnaf 2 building instead of just one or two rooms. If all minigames, including the ones that are more specific like Save Them, are symbolic then that means that Follow Me and the Fnaf 4 minigames didn't actually happen the way they are shown. However nobody believes that.

3. The MCI happened at the original restaurant NOT the Fnaf 2 building. Phone Guy on Night 2 specifically mentions the smell on the withered animitronics that got the original restaurant shut down being the reason they scrapped the withereds. This indicates that the MCI already happened before the Toys were introduced. Also he mentions something happened at the original restaurant that made many people have a negative impression of the company and that the building was left to rot for quite a while. This proves that it's impossible for the MCI to be at the Fnaf 2 location.

4. Toys being possesed. It's undeniable that the Toys are possesed. Not only do they have the ghost eyes, but also act weird and in ways that the engineers had no explanation behind why they were moving around and being hostile. The excuse that Ralph makes about them being tampered with is not accurate because he also says in Fnaf 1 and 2 that the originals think you're an endoskeleton without a costume on. If you believe everything he says is fact, then the Fnaf 1 animitronics cannot be haunted either and must be just malfunctioning robots. Ralph is an unreliable narrator because he's in denial about the animitronics being haunted.

With all that said, I do understand why people would be hesitant about believing the DCI since they aren't mentioned again, but there is overwhelming evidence for their existence. Not to mention, other characters die in the story and are never mentioned again like the technicians from SL and the unknown number of kids the Funtimes kidnapped at private parties.
