When I was a kid we used to catch these all the time on the pier and threw them back because of the blue color. One day an old-timer told us the fish were not only edible, but delicious. We caught a big one like Taku's in a crab trap and went home with 8 crabs and a cabezon for dinner.  My buddy and I steamed the crabs and fried the fish and had the best dinner ever!

I caught my first Cabezon in Vallejo by the old General Mills, I was maybe twelve or thirteen years old. It was nineteen inches and I thought it was a world record bullhead lol I took it home to show my dad. He wanted to know who I went serf fishing with he thought I was bull shitting him about catching it in town. He cleaned it and showed me the vivid blue meat that turned white. He chunked the meat sautéed it in butter, added some flower for a rue  then cream,  chives, lemon juice, and a shot of dry sherry. He served it on toast with lemon pepper and a dusting of paprika. I Shure miss my old man great fisherman great cook! Dad told me in his opinion and I agree Cabezon is the best eating fish from our California coast.

"im pretty sure the roe is poisonous"

immediately throws the roe to the seagull to eat. 🤣

"So you like fish stixxs"

Dude, I haven’t seen this guy’s channel in forever. I forgot it existed and that’s not be being rude either. I’m glad I came across it again. During Covid times outdoor chef life was the life.😂

The big slow swell is trippy the first time you see it.

That bed head is wild bro!

Thats funny that Jocelyn calls you Cabezon 😅 I can't unhear/see it now 👨🦱

Would you be doing survival videos again, living off of what you catch, I really enjoyed the videos you did in the past

Cooking outdoors is not just about the food, it's about the connection with nature. Mastering the 'tin fire' has been my latest passion, and seeing your skills always pushes me to do better. Great content! 🔪🔥

Just started watching your content but the style of dishes you prepare I grew up on and the videos back in Japan hit so hard! My bachan is from Okinawa I’ve personally never been but you got me itching for a trip! Keep killing you got a subscriber in me!

Victorinox Swiss 4"in tomato and table paring knife

Nothing better then seeing a new vid of Taku on the boat !!!!!

Blessed with another Taku Tuesday!!

Enjoyed the nice, peaceful voice-over dubbing.
Happy holidays to you, Jocelyn, and your family.

Now that I think about it, I'm surprised how few videos of you have a cabezon. Beautiful and tasty fish! Great job!

Love that you got a boat, just another tool to make amazing videos with.

I like how you turned the "crab cakes" on their sides and didn't forget to fry them too

A good welder can weld the cast iron door hinge on your wood stove. Weld it up and drill it out .

ive made crab cakes with Atlantic sheepshead and its almost exactly like blue crab.
