Thank you so much for doing this video series! You gave me the confidence and information I need to do my 2007 Tahoe. It has a crack in the passenger side cylinder head so I’m replacing the entire head.

I used to tear engines apart and clean them/ replace/rebuild them and such; and I loved it but in recent years I have gotten several things wrong in my back. And as I watch you leaning forward working on this I think Ohh man what I would Do to be able to do this once again and not have such disabling pain! I was always very thourgh/ n percise. Thanks Richard! I have not had good luck with simple engine repairs much less tearing apart an engine, but lack of funds had me attempting this. I followed your video including your parts list (mine is a 2010 suburban) and was able to complete the job with no issues afterwards! I just wish you would have done the drivers side as well as I'm not sure what's different in tearing down the other side. (2500 miles later I am starting to have lifter noise at start up on the drivers side, I don't want to wait till it breaks down). Passenger side still very quiet.

Thanks for documenting this!!! I'm starting on my 09 Yukon today. How did you release the coolant from the RAD? I'm unsure on which hose or plug to pull.

I was like a couple thousand dollars to replace the lifters in an LS... that's crazy and then you said Canadian. I was like oh for sure... Definitely in Canada... yyeah LOL I know here down in the States you can replace all of them for about 400 or 500 in parts.

Would anyone know what size tap to use on the 09 Silverado 5.3 flex fuel? Have to clean threads on the center row of head bolt holes.

My truck has check engine ligh flashing and traction control stability service on I already change coil number 4 da wires spark plugs they told me it can be a bad injector or lifter when I turn my truck on it smoke out da pipe

The VLOM was "redesigned" to apparently allow the oil to pass through the filters better and in turn stop the lifters from collapsing. Does anyone know what year they started putting in the NEW "redesigned" VLOM into the 5.3 engines.. I have a 2013, 5.3. pretty much the same as Richards. VIN's 8th = "0".

I have a 2007 Avalanche took it to the shop before I took it was blowing white smoke except for two days and then I took it to the shop and The Smoke Stop I was getting antifreeze out of the exhaust but not in the oil I took a picture of it and show them and they said it was the head gasket changing the head gasket do that makes the bottom in go or should I change the whole motor good video you have right here

I'm noting your work flow, very good process. Someone sprayed Sea Foam or similar down the push rod tube hole to soak the lifter. That unstuck it (in his case Tahoe collapsed lifter cheap fix) and then he disabled AFM in software so the lifter don't collapse anymore. But that problem was crud buildup. Thanks. Just sharing info.
